Americans, also look as strong I think?

They look solid, but young. On paper I definitely see Canada and Russia as having superior teams.

How that plays out is a different story.

As for the goalie debate : Let them fight it out, I would have both with 50/50 odds of starting right about now.

What does?
Sure I can, DiPietro's numbers are worst than Scott's. Period.
Numbers in Jr play in regards to goaltenders dont mean everything at all, just ask Connor Ingram or MacKenzie Blackwood. If I were to pin my starting goaltender for opening night itd be Michael DiPietro, whose been consistently elite at his position since he first entered the OHL.

Why now?

Because Blackwood helped us pack our bags in the quarters in 2016 and Ingram got yanked for a disastorous semi final start. You really dont pay attention to goaltending talent at all.
I mean I am not sure what Blackwood and Ingram have to do with Scott? This doesn't have to be an either or situation right now  They are both great goalies and whichever one takes the net gets it. It is silly to suggest either one deserves to be the number 1 right now over the other.

LAFRENIERE HAS MADE THE TEAM; GOD BLESS

And no sorry

Ingram having a bad game conveniently in the semi-final =/= him being the worst goalie. If you're making a decision you go off of the hundreds of games you have outside the tournament.

Now, this still makes DiPietro the starter but Scott should still put up a decent fight.

Sucks for Vilardi and team Canada he would have been a big boost to the team. Team Canada would be dumb to take Entwistle over Lafreniere.

JAD - Bowers - Studnika is a fantastic fourth line no need for another checking forward.

Edit: Ha perfect time to post this just after the final roster is announced

His argument was based on Scott posting better numbers and should be the starter over DiPietro so I provided two examples of two junior goalies who had good numbers in jr but absolutely flustered when they performed at the World Juniors. Hopefully that isnt the case with either Scott or DiPietro and both can guide us to another gold medal, but right now my starter is Michael DiPietro.

Interesting that Entwhistle made it over some other more talented guys.

I mean yeah...goalies are kind of hard to predict but two other goalies having bad games when it matters has zero barring on Scott. Doesn't matter even a little bit. Scott is also having a better season then either of them were having but that is beside the point. Objectively I think it is pretty clear there isn't a number 1 right now and that is how it should be when you probably have 2 #1 goalies.

Very small sample this year for Scott. Most of DiPietro's year has been on a bad rebuilding Windsor team, not a CHL powerhouse.

Has he ever had the pressure of leading his team to a Memorial Cup win? I think DiPietro has the larger body of work and more experience under pressure.

That said it likely could still be the hot hand. If they are dead even, I would expect Hockey Canada goes with the more experienced goalie. They did bring DiPietro to the World Championships last spring.

DiPietro wont be riding the pine without getting some game action, not in the hosting market Hockey Canada wants to get stoked about the tournament and sell out games.

I would say it is DiPietro's job to lose but it is closer than first thought a few months ago.

The bolded 100% will not be a factor in who is playing in net. Bob Mckenzie was on radio this week saying he thinks it is a total toss up and whoever performs better gets the net.

Time for the infighting to end gentlemen and time instead to circle the wagons, who one prefers or whether someone is a prospect in your n.h.l teams organization matters nothing anymore........................the job of the team is to win and it's our job to support them come what may.

The rest of the hockey world hates us, if you don't believe that you must not spend much time here. We're all we have and what we have is better then all the rest combined in this game called hockey............................that's why they hate us. Our job is to now support the team, the tradition, the history, it's an heirloom

Don't forget that.

If we beat A tired travel weary Swiss team by a big score we will be ordained by Bob as the gold medal favourite
Pressure starts for a Canada
If the game is close, The team will start hearing that we have the wrong players,
Pressure starts for Canada
If we lose to the Swiss, Trudeau calls for Parliament to convene.
Hunter is canned and Ducharme takes over in a cloud of turmoil
Pressure starts for Canada
Bring it on
It truly is the best time of the year

Feel so badly for Vilardi, he's such a good player. Hopefully only a minor set back before he's playing again.

I hope he turns this around
I never felt he was ready for this tournament
I actually thought he would play and get scratched after the roster was set
This way we know now what we have
Go get him Alexis

i think dipietro will get that starting job, but have a short leash.
he knows the building, and bounces a bit better due to his training camp there. in short tournaments thats an advantage as a goalie
