I’m a Swede so I don’t have the best knowledge about the Canadian college system so I’m apologizing in beforehand if I offend anybody haha.

But I have to say that I was surprised to see that the Canadian WJC team only won 1 out of 3 games against Usport. I thought that they would dominate the games considering they’re top NHL prospects (some have even already played in the NHL) and would sweep them in three straight.

Is the Canadian college system just that good and flying under the radar or am I missing something here? I’m genuinely curious and interested to know as I consider this team to be the best junior team in the world.

Canadian college players are much older, in their early 20s. They're good players (many are former major junior players) but they're mostly players that have given up on having a pro career. Still, the 5-6 years age advantage puts them in a good position to win those games.

sympathy for the devils................love that handle.

Joseph cut. That one surprised me a little.

I hope if they’re cutting him that they plan to bring Beaudin and not Markus Phillips... will be a big mistake IMO if Phillips is on the final roster.

Beaudin cut also... kind of surprised.

The best Canadian junior team wouldn't consistently beat the worst Canadian college team. The size, strength and speed of players between the ages of 17 to 19 and 20-24 is far too great for most.

That left side looks pretty weak outside of Smith with just McIsaac and Phillips. Hopefully Brook moves over and Phillips is only the #7

Okay this from the TSN site can't be right, cut all three goalies?
"According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, the following players are part of Canada's final cuts: goaltenders Matt Villalta, Mikey DiPietro and Ian Scott; defenceman Pierre Olivier Joseph and Jacob Bernard-Docker."

So that puts them down to 14 forwards right?

Must mean they have faith at least one of Vilardi/JAD will be ready. I don't think JAD would make the team without playing a game though.

Phillips? Really? smh.. couple head scratchers.. hopefully play the crap out of top 4 and spot duty the rest

That D will be interesting and I think someone will swing over and play their off side. I think McIsaac is likely good enough that he could play as the number 4 D on that side but I also think with it being his first year eligible that he shouldnt be relied on like that. No idea what theyre thinking with Phillips,I havent seen much of him but how can you take a guy with 10 points in 30 games in the O? Even if hes solid defensively team Canada takes guys that can produce AND play defensively. Very surpising to me and kinda smells like a coach trying to be smarter than everyone else. Hopefully they know what theyre doing

Edit: Forwards left are Glass Suzuki Hayton Frost Bowers Comtois Lafreniere Veleno JAD and Forementon. Tippet Leason Studnicka and Entwhistle are the right wingers left. 2 forwards still to cut.

I dont love the right wingers, that will be the weakest position up front but theyre still solid
