At the game and Juniors manhandled by the University squad.

Frost was probably the best forward for Juniors. No one stood out on defense. Could see why B-Docker and Joesph were cut.

Not impressed with LaFreniere. One game not much to go on - but for someone currently rated the best in his age group in the world, I expected more.

Don't buy into the Craig Button hype. among the '01 born players there is an American (Hughes) rated ahead of him, and arguably a Finn (Kakko) and a Russian (Podkolzin) as well. plus 2 Canadians (Cozens and Dach) may have something to add to the best in the '01 debate; Lafreneire gets the benefit of a late birthday and in the '02 draft class where nobody has of put up a challenge to his #1 ranking. for me, he's a slightly bigger version of Taylor Hall.

people should lower their expectations as to what Lafreniere can do at this tournament. 4 pts is my expectation. 3 coming against Denmark. If he produces anything in games against bigger, stronger and older competition, the medal contenders, well that's just a bonus.

And Finland has lost Heiskanen, Kotkaniemi, Jokiharju, Vaakanainen and possibly Tolvanen.

Every country loses players.
Your'e almost right we will loose Heiskainen,Kotkaniemi,Vaakanainen (probably do to injury) and Vesalainen. But there is a pretty big chance that we get Jokiharju and Tolvanen. Our trainer said in an interview today that two NA player will join.

Are you just pulling these "rankings" entirely out of your ass? Because in no world would Cozens or Dach ever....and I mean ever be rated ahead of Lafreniere. There is also no actually ranking out there putting any of those player ahead of Alexis...So is this just you coming up with random rankings to stay down on a player you have randomly been down on all year?

ouldnt surprise me. I feel he will get better as the tournament goes on. He’s not as eye catching as say McDavid but his stats over the last couple of years don’t lie. Also he was Canada’s best player at the Hlinka last year.

I think a lot of people here will be surprised at how much offence McIsaac can bring from that 3rd pairing even though thats not the role he'll be playing for team Canada. He's really cleaned his game up since his return from Detroit and injury. Almost mistake free games all year. I think he will have as much value to this team as Dobson.

i have seen him 3 to 4 times live and countless game video

is not a flash player and and you dont realize its him on a specific offensive play

he is a stealth player

effective in all situations and maximizes most of his opportunities

I definitely liked the look of this team better a week ago than I do now, though I'll be happy to be proven wrong by the players. The Formenton situation is unfortunate for him and the team. His speed will be missed, though I didn't expect him to contribute a whole lot offensively. Keeping two players who have barely played all year, with at least one pretty much guaranteed to make the team, is risky. I think that Vilardi is potentially worth the risk but not Anderson-Dolan. Phillips is definitely a surprise. He brings less offence than a player like Joseph, but will he bring far better defence? I don't know, it's a bit of an odd pick. He did not stand out to me in any way at any of the selection related activities. Entwistle is similar at the forward spot in that he won't bring a lot of offence, though he at least did look good in exhibition games. I don't love Suzuki as a centre either.

In any event, the main thing is to see how the team actually performs on the ice. I'm also curious as to which player is the one that Hockey Canada is worried about, health wise. Vilardi has been more active in practice so I suspect that it's Anderson-Dolan.

I can't see how it wouldn't be Vilardi. Anderson-Dolan is coming back from a broken wrist....That is pretty black and white to me, if he is ready to go then he goes if not he doesn't, the fact that he is still there tells me he is going to be ready and there is minimal risk of re-injury. Vilardi is obviously the more impactful player so they are going to give more rope but there is really no way to predict how a back is going to react over time especially a recurring back issue. I have very little concerns over JAD but Vilardi is constantly going to be a worry even into the tournament if he is fine through the pre-tournament games.

A bigger Taylor Hall? The same Taylor Hall who is a PPG Hart Trophy winner? And you think that's not a great player? Lefreniere probably wont make a big impact in this tournament (no 17yo does for Canada), but dont pretend hes not an incredible talent for his age and is clearly in competition for Hughes as the best 2001 born. Cozens and Dach dont even come close.

Given the make up of the defense he needs to learn to shoot left handed. lol

Exactly.

I think if Bernard-Docker is a LH Shot, he easily makes this team. But they're already going into the tournament with what looks like 4 RHD in the Top-6 (which is really not the greatest idea in the first place imo). I don't think you can take another RH Shot on top of that as the projected "spare". You'd be running the risk of one injury/misconduct/suspension giving you an almost entirely RH shot defence (5/6). Which would most likely be completely catastrophic.

Just a victim of circumstance with an overload of top RHD in this year's group, more than lacking any particular thing in his game i think.
