I haven't seen any Finns who dislikes Canada either. I've only seen Finns who can't stand Maple Leafs or their fans. I think you have seen too many like them so you don't know that majority actually likes Canada a lot after Finland. I don't know why would us hate you if we aren't playing against.

You havent been paying attention then. If you watch Canada GDT's they are there in abundance and have been for years.

Probably you have seen the bad ones then. The most vocal ones. Maybe you'll change you mind some day about us, because really we all aren't that bad. I like Canadians, they're nice people. At least the ones I've talked the most. Feels bad though that your opinion is now what it is because of some guys in GDT's. :(

I think Finnish people are fine folk, some of the best, never said they weren't. Finnish people are good people and I know that.

Their hockey fans around here though?.................thats a different story. They've soured me on your hockey teams unfortunately.

But hey, we've all got fans less then stellar.

Anyway, enough of this....................we have a game to play tomorrow and I know you guys will be tough, if we lose it is no shame in ever losing to you guys in hockey.

This just makes me wonder how bad we must be to swedes and russians then

I would go with Fabbro and hope he gets better as he goes along

Interesting.

I am worried that it is now at a stage where the guy can play but that the stress of playing hard minutes will make it regress.

I don't like this situation, especially after seeing in the exhibition games that Mahura is fully capable.

I wouldn't be penciling Fabbro in on any pairing just yet. Did you guys see the TSN video from practice the other day? He kept shaking his foot/leg and at one point was struggling to get up after he fell. Maybe he has improved in the days since but at that time he looked like a guy who was far from healthy.

Fabbro is one of my favourite prospects but I think it's safest to go with Mahura at this point.

He's looked good in the pre-tournament action and although Fabbro is the superior player, Fabbro appears to be hurting quite a bit.

Agreed, i wouldn't trust it but I guess that is what they are going to sit down and be honest about tonight.

At least I hope everyone is honest at the sit down.

Mahura plays a solid game as well. He'd be a great option to have.

I’d be fine taking Fabbro and having him sit out the first 2 games of the round robin if necessary, if they think the extra rest will heal the injury fully. If there’s a chance to get Fabbro back to 100% before the medal round then I’d rather have him then I would Mahura.

The original question was assuming Fabbro was at 90%... At less than 90 I'd go with Mahura. At 90 + I would go with Fabbro...

Bean should really be the 7th dman, seeing spot duty at 5/5 but getting 1st line PP time.

Basically yes. He was a liability defensively last year and appears to be one this year. This year he has been very smart in the offensive zone though. This is probably the best position for Bean.

You are one of the few finnish fans around here that cheer for Canada after Finland, as a group they are very vicious towards us.

I've noticed lots of Canadian fans here like the Finnish teams though, they are usually the team they cheer for after Canada.

The worm is starting to turn in that regard though and for good reason.............Finns for the most part **** all over us around here. I know I am one of the new breed that has turned against Finland in a strong way, really detest them now and hope they get beaten badly.

Canadians cheered for Finland because they weren't threatening to Canada but were good enough to pull off upsets. It helped that the style of play was somewhat similar too. As Finland becomes a stronger hockey nation I expect that Canadian goodwill toward Finland will decrease, and for Finland that should be viewed as a good thing.

Finns are the Leafs of international hockey.

Toronto has won a lot more than Finland has.

Looking at the Fabbro situation, if he isn't close to completely healthy then he shouldn't be at the tournament. He is a good player and a returnee, but he isn't some superstar that would be carrying the Canadian defence if he was healthy. I still have images of a hobbled Cowen in 2011 sinking the team after he was added to it while injured. Canada has a good backup in Mahura, it's safer to just keep him if Fabbro isn't basically at 100%. If Fabbro is at 100% then the difference between him and Mahura likely isn't all that significant. I prefer the safer route.

I agree with this. I like Fabbro, but I think he may be getting overrated as a difference maker at this point.

I think people are actually severely under rating the role Fabbro would be playing for us this year. Most likely because people haven't seen him play since last year around this time and Mahura had a great game against the Swiss. If people think Fabbro won't be missed they are sorely mistaken. He is the kind of player that can matchup and play against the top offensive players in this tournament and I don't think we have a replacement for that. Now obviously if he isn't fit to play then we are better off with a healthy option but let's not get carried away.
