The thing with Steenbergen is that he looks like one of the only forwards that contributes only offence. He hasn't been noticeable except when he scores. Of course there is a lot to be said for such a player, but in the exhibitions most Canadian forwards have gotten all over the opposition with intense pressure, and this is the style of play that Ducharme typically uses. If Steenbergen can keep scoring a goal or two per game then obviously he should keep getting minutes, but at this point almost every forward has scored and the other players have brought more in addition to scoring. I don't mind if Ducharme keeps rotating Batherson and Steenbergen until one of them clearly emerges as the better fit.
Regarding Katchouk, I think he's been great. Smart player and playing a physical style that is often very effective in junior hockey. Katchouk, Formenton and Comtois have all been extremely effective on the forecheck with Gadjovich not far behind. I really don't think that any forward can be singled out for underperforming in the exhibitions. Of course these games have only been exhibitions so a lot remains to be seen.
