You know,it is normal for us to want to discuss line combinations and defensive partners and who will be the P.P q.b and what matchups there will be and who should be the 13th forward and 7th defenseman and all that stuff but in the end this will all come down to Hart, goaltending.

We either get goaltending that is at least a slight notch better then anyone elses or we don't and that will be the difference, maybe even more so then other years because of the nature of this years tournament with a bunch of teams clustered really close in ability.

They most likely will or won't be the difference when all is said and done. Simple as that. Hart(or Point) need to make KEY saves at KEY times.
You can say that for anybody, at any time, though. If we can play as we did in the pretournament throughout every game, we can beat anybody - not by a dozen goals, but by enough - so long as our goaltending is adequate.

I agree you can say that for any team.Hence why it has to be Canada that wins that battle.

We need to win the goaltending battle. Our goaltending cannot be just adequate, it won't be good enough in this tournament, it is too close to call and we will fall short to some team if it is merely adequate. We have to have the BEST goaltending.

I just hope we get the quality we need is all.It can't be just ok, we need it to clearly be the best of any team.

This tournament isn't the N.H.L playoffs either. You get these silly teenage breakdowns that cause situations for goalies where they have to make saves at key moments that you often do not see in an N.H.L playoff game.

Excited as a London Knights season tic holder to watch Mete, Thomas n Formenton.
Thomas should do all the little things well that often go unnoticed and can surprise with his skill set. Loved the kids game since minor midget. I expect him to be a F TC leans on.
Formenton is a kid trending upwards. I expect a big play or two but not near the same expectations as RT. Kid can fly, but hands gotta catch up. Definitely a role player.
Mete has been amazing to watch in jr. Half way thru year 1 he proved to be Londons go to guy. And the next 2 years was more valuable than Joulevi.
Smart, great stick, moves his feet n puck extremely well but can have trouble with big bodies in his zone. I expect him to be a top 4.

Cant wait

Edit Max Jones, Koukkanen Joulevi also with London ties ;) Man we are spoiled

The guy is going to be very valuable to us in transitioning the puck out of our zone, he will get us out of loads of trouble that way but I don't see him as a guy you want defending down in the trenches when the cycle pressure is on with the other teams good forwards, he worries me that way but pretty much all the d-men we have here have questions regarding that aspect going into this tournament. Going to be real interesting to see who if any of the guys are going to be able to excel at that

The Finnish fans are a real pompous group. Would love to lay a beating on them in game 1.

They have been out of hand ever since a bit of success the last few years, i've come to want to beat them almost more then anybody.

Cheer against them in their games all the time now even in games against Russia and I never thought that could have been possible. You know it's bad when I am going for the Russians.

Too bad, not all Finns are like that.. I always cheer for Canada after Finland. :(

You are one of the few finnish fans around here that cheer for Canada after Finland, as a group they are very vicious towards us.

I've noticed lots of Canadian fans here like the Finnish teams though, they are usually the team they cheer for after Canada.

The worm is starting to turn in that regard though and for good reason.............Finns for the most part shit all over us around here. I know I am one of the new breed that has turned against Finland in a strong way, really detest them now and hope they get beaten badly.

Unfortunately the most extreme (Finnish) fans are also the most vocal. Its not that we are any different as hockey fans as you guys are.

Really been waiting for tomorrow for a long time now. Some names in our offence still make me wonder why couple of better players were left out. Fortunately they have a very good defence.

I will keep my eye close on Hart. He looks to be one of the best goalie prospect.

It is all goaltending in the essence that teams are so close now that a .930 sv% from your goaltender likely wins the series where a .905 probably loses you the series.

Wow three straight Avs fans rattled that one poster didn’t have him in their top 6.

I aint shook. I know Makar is playing. I dont need no dick measuring contest when it comes to Makar and Mete both are good and will play. I find it hilarious how hab fans are so ride or die when it comes to any of their players against anyone else.

What the... How does this even make sense? Are you sure you are not just projecting?

Finland's rivals are Russia and Sweden, there also at least used to be some beef with Czechia. I dont personally know of literally any Finnish fan who actively dislikes Canada. If anything, Finns would feel some closeness to them for being clear hockey countries with strong winters etc. or at least that is how I have always felt about it. But of course, the underdog mentality and the lookout for an upset is there in all cases against an overwhelming favorite just because it would be more interesting that way.

Hard to imagine some Finns would actively want Canada to lose more than Sweden for example. Of course, they want Finland to beat everyone they play against.

You have been doing some selective reading around here then if you have come to the conclusion that you don't know of anyone that actively dislikes Canada among Finnish fans around here. I don't care who your natural rivals are, the majority of Finn fans whose posts I have read here can't stand us and actively root against us, natural rivalry or not.I mean, i was one of those many Canadian fans who used to root for Finland when Canada was not playing or was knocked out so I would not have suddenly done a complete about face without good reason.

You must be blind to have not seen it or, perhaps you have just been too occupied with your teams games that you have missed it all, I guess that is possible.

I haven't seen any Finns who dislikes Canada either. I've only seen Finns who can't stand Maple Leafs or their fans. I think you have seen too many like them so you don't know that majority actually likes Canada a lot after Finland. I don't know why would us hate you if we aren't playing against.
