Tampa had 3 long cup runs which led to 3 short off seasons , that has to wear on players , so yeah i think we can beat them . I don't see us getting by Boston or whoever comes out of the Metro but i'll worry about that if we actually get out of the first rd .

anyway winning is secondary since it's all about the 'spect we get while shaking hands after another quick exit !

Defensivly
Toronto lost muzzin and lyubushkin and replace him by liljegren and sandin. Toronto lost a lot of physicality


Vs tampa lost mcdonaugh and replace him with cole

Tampa unstead of playing with sergachev and foote-bogosian on 3rd line, they now playing with cole and perbix.... huge difference with last year but we can expect to see a lot of hedman and sergachev on the ice... they will probably playing around 26-27 min/game and not sure sergachev/cernaknwill be as good defensivly than with mcdonaugh...

Goalie with samsonov and murray vs campbell, its an upgrade vs tampa same

Overall leafs are better than whats they was last season and tampa worst. I think vasi will need to steal it if tampa want to beat toronto

Tampa was a train wreck out of the gate last year. They stumbled through the first several games that could have cost them the series against any playoff team. I expect they will be better prepared this year against the same opponent as last year and be a tougher match up - we certainly have gaps to exploit.

Leafs have hope it just comes with uncertainty. Last week's additions are a big boost and we may see another one soon. Have to hope this is a year where everything clicks and we see a changing of the guard with the Leafs making positive playoff hockey developments and Tampa aging out and burning out from too much hockey.

I see it 60/40 Bolts/Leafs.

I agree with a lot of this. It's impossible to argue that Toronto isn't better this year than last year.

It's going to be a close series, no matter what anyone says. Either team can win it, just like almost every series the Leafs have lost in recent years.

But if we were to get another good shut down D man to fill Muzzin’s role, then that gives us a little more assurance.

Kerfoot I see no role for on this team, Holl would be better suited as a bottom pairing D

From a contract perspective kerfoot is awful but he is more versatile and a better player. I am no fan of Holl. That said, they are both more difficult to replace adequately and certainly not with the depth the team has current access to. Sure if you can remove both for a significant holl upgrade, I would be a fan of that. I just don't know who that would be.

Judging by what TB paid for basically a third liner, I sense a bit of panic. Dubas should counter by targeting Lawson Crouse out of Zona.

One more tough bottom sixer and a tough 5-6 defenceman.

Leafs need two things specifically to be able to win.

1: Goaltending that doesn’t shit the bed in crucial moments. God knows how many times Andersen or Campbell would let in a backbreaking goal.

2. Effective special teams. The powerplay has to figure out a way to score and the penalty kill needs to not only kill the penalties but stop taking penalties while on it to go down 5 on 3.

Back in the day TOR used to win the odd series simply by having better goaltending.

I think Toronto has a chance. I wish our D were just a little bit deeper.

Biggest worry from Tampa comes from two things that can easily bury us, and has in the past.

They are very capable in getting a team goalied, Vash can steal any series, any time. They got absolutely dominated by the wings the other night and he had a near 50 save shut-out...

Their PP can shred us, even with our PK being top 10, Tampa is can gut it.

What the Bolts have in their back pocket unfortunately is something we need to acquire asap , but is extremely difficult to achieve.
Winning pedigree, experience in tough situations, playoff warrior attitude, the knowledge of being there many times , Hall of famers , elite goaltending, a true #1 d man ,a bottom 6 second none , experienced coaching staff , and a group searching for a last hurrah .
The good news , is that we can achieve all of , but firstly we need to find a way to get past them .
