I think a big thing that people are forgetting, Tampa is coming off their first series loss in 12 straight. They are finally “beatable”

I really don’t understand the hate boner for Engvall. Ya he’s soft and looks lazy at times, but he is also one of the best defensive wingers on this team while providing the only offense from the bottom 6.

Ideally the bottom 6 isn’t littered with soft forwards, but Engvall a weird one for the fans to scapegoat.
The hate boner comes from 2 shots for in 4 games while being on ice for 34 shots against 5x5.
He is getting caved every night lately.

Blaming the refs is weak. It's going to be a tough go no matter what. Could go either way.

Leafs have been better than Tampa so far this season.

They added Jeannot

We've added RoR and Acciari, and will add Knies. There is a probably another addition to the Leafs to upgrade the roster.

Yes, and we should slap them rather easily. Tampa might be done making roster additions, they pretty much emptied the cupboards for Jeannot. We were the better team last year and the gap has only grown. Unless we suffer a significant injury to a core player, Leafs in 5.

4 games is your sample?
I sure don't care what he did last year. This is the time to up your game. Everyone is going...except guys like engval. You want to improve a roster, you don't pick your best depth players in the past to stay over the ones that are playing well now.
He is big bodied. If he can't shoot, he should be hitting. He needs to find a way to stay in the lineup because he is easily replaceable. Knies will be a better player no doubt. We have him if we want. It's either him or ZAR and ZAR's line is going

Who is talking about the past? He has been one of our best defensive forward this season and has 12 goals playing 3rd/4th line minutes.

Of course we can, the biggest thing is don’t take you foot off their throats like we did Game 4, Keefe a self satisfied amateur with his comments heading into that one. Hopefullu that’s the lesson learned. Look, they aren’t relishing us again either, that’s for sure.

I wouldn't count on Knies helping us. I mean you never know but playoff start in 6/7 weeks and Knies hasn't even played a single game in the NHL to this point.

Was "everyone is going" your assessment of how we played when we lost twice to bottom feeder Chicago?

He has hugely sheltered minutes and they are just getting easier. He is getting caved at a time when the best defenders on the opposing teams have their hands full with 2 great lines that just got better. It should be a walk in the park. It is easy to see who the weak links are.
If you think Engvall is so valuable, who are the 2 weakest links on the team in your estimation?

He was on ice for 6 shots for last night, 4 against. He's been on the ice for 364 shots for, 292 against this season. His line had a bad game against Chicago, and he's been good, and his linemates have been good for the balance of the season.

half a shot a game x 4.
Wonder why his line is having difficulty

He most certainly is an unknown... but even with ignoring him... having added RoR and Acciari is a greater move than adding Jeannot... I can't imagine anyone disagrees with that assessment... Knies might be a contributor, and we likely still add another upgrade to the roster. So, we were better before the trades, and we added better players... anyone disagree with that?

What nonsense are you going on about? He had 4 shots on goal against the Habs the last time we played them... I guess he should have been nominated for the league MVP after that. Imagine getting that focused on something that meaningless?

We added better players, agree with that. Were we better before, that I don't know. We were close in the standings, and still are but I don't think that means much. If there's one team that doesn't care much about where they finish, IMHO it's TB. They've won 11 rounds in the last 3 years, they're mostly the same team that did that, they still have the best goalie in the world and you better believe they will be ready to play when the playoffs start.

Whoever wins the series can say they're better, at least in that moment in time. The series should be a tossup, if either team is "better" it's not by much.

My biggest concern with this group is between their ears.

Facing the prospect of 7 straight first-round defeats the pressure will be even higher this year and I'm not even close to convinced this team's top players (or any of them) will be able to overcome it.

The series is almost certain to go 6 or 7, and the Leafs have a poor record in those deciding games. They can't score, their PP is abysmal, they take bad penalties, give up horrendous turnovers, etc. Basically find a way to lose.

Unless they collectively figure out how to overcome that hurdle against a still great team in Tampa Bay - a team that has absolutely no problem stepping up and delivering when a series is on the line - it's going to be 0-7.

You say you don't understand the hate boner before calling him soft and lazy.

He's 6"5 about 230 pounds and you called him soft and lazy.

You tell me why the hate boner exists.

3rd line needs a complete revamp/identity change cause it currently has none. They will get chewed up against tampa or Boston. Just not at the cost of an entire draft class hopefully lol

Toronto can beat anyone the problem round 1 the lightning advantage
Coaching
Goalie
Defense
Experience
Toughness
Lightning top 3 F Point, Kucherov, Stamkos likely HOF still bringing it

Leafs are legit but this seems like a bad draw

I would tske Leafs over Canes and Rangers but this Tampa series blows
