Ah, so you can’t explain, it’s just your opinion.

There’s multiple posts as to the why it happened. You’re clueless if you think a 24 year old, 100 point player, signed for 8 years traded for two UFAs to be with no promises, a first, and a prospect is a “fleecing.”

They were top 10 in shots against, high danger chances limited against, and expect goals against last season. Their GA was inflated by terrible goaltending most of the season. When healthy they are absolutely top 10 by nearly every metric

Their team was....their D when they actually have to defend are not that good lmao. Like Boston isn't particularly great on D but they have forwards that make it pretty easy on them though obviously they have McAvoy they don't have a deep blue line like the Avs/Rangers/Carolina do.

who cares, I'll settle for top 15-20. That would be way better than expected when the trade was done.

Toronto,s forwards like Florida are their strength...The defense isnt championship quality...To win it all you need to be strong everywhere....Defense scoring and goaltending...There is still only one team in the Atlantic capable of having all three and that is Tampa

Tkachuk isn’t a 100 point player. He won’t get that again. They didn’t even attempt to negotiate with Huberdeau or Weegar. Just a badly mishandled situation.

Agreed,the NYI have a very good top 4 ...But dont have enough up front to win it all ...Its really about balance

They didn’t want to sign them, why would have they attempt to negotiate? It doesn’t make sense. It’s not like Zito had a chance to sign Huberdeau for something like 32M$ for 4 years.

As for Tkachuk, he might never get 100 pts again. But he’s probably good for 80 pts perd season for the next 8 years, which is nothing to complain about.

Tkachuk will still be in his prime being a ppg player when Huberdeau will be a 60 pts aging player.
