It really has nothing to do with how well Willy is doing.

He's right - he'd be happy if Nylander finished with 75 points, as that would probably ensure that he ended up with fewer than Marner, which is what is important to him.

It's obvious from many of his posts, most clearly when he laughs at the idea that Willy may control play better, that he's fixated on Mitch.
Zero chance Nylander gets more points than Marner if they play the same number of games. That just a delusion. All you folks pushing for that are children who can't get past their obsession.
FYI...I have a pretty long history of saying this team needs Nylander to be good. 75 points is good and everything more is gravy. Marner is among the league's best in controlling play. Nobody who is credible would put Nylander in that class.

He's capable of it. He just has stretches of time where he goes cold, if he can ever avoid it, he will hit 90.

what difference does it make? 82 or 92 pts is a point per game. The important thing for Willy is goal scoring.

Can he crack 40?

He should have had 3-4 assits the other night. He was finding mates in great positions.
Even stuck playing with Tavares he's been virtually a ppg player, and since he got moved away, he's about 1.1.

Unfortunately they may move him back, as he seems to be better at helping JT produce.

What does this even mean?

If you think zero goals and 3 assists over 10 games at even strength is better than than the 5 goals and 4 assists over 15 with Marner, then you would be correct.

You have to wonder if one of the double digits is pulling all the strings?
Not sure what you mean but if you think the data is skewed, Tavares went without an EV point for 8 out of 10 games with Willy and 9 out of 15 with Mitchy

It's pretty easy to discern that I've was a typo in a phone for over...... If you read it that many times and couldn't grasp that then.....yikes
No you'd have to explain it fully for me to comment on it again. Read it out loud yourself before snipping at someone's heels with semantics.

better use the edit on this one as well.

Tavares and Marner have combined (one scoring and the other assisting or both assisting) on 3 goals and 2 assists at even strength so far this year.

Tavares and Nylander have combined (one scoring and the other assisting or both assisting) on 1 goal and 4 assists at even strength so far this year.

You say JT has played 15 games with Marner and 10 with Nylander.

Obviously Marner is a much better fit with JT, and should be on the second line permanently.

Matthews is heating up (6 ES point in 3 games).

We also seem to be winning more with Willy on the top line.

I agree we shouldn't fix what isn't broken.

Willy is playing great, what I like is that he is controlling plays and engaging in games.
It seems like he finally gets it. Now if he shoots more and be more physical.

Nylander is among the leagues best in controlling play. You are falsely equating not being as good as Marner as not being among the leagues best.

‘More physical’ is never going to happen.
The flybys are more tolerable if he’s going to put up 90 points, not so much putting up 70

Exactly. That's his style, and anyone who expects him to turn into Wendel Clark is delusional.

There is a massive gap between Clark and Nylander.
I don't imagine there are any fans that would expect that from him.

I actually think willy has been a great deal more physical. Sure he's not barreling into the corners to deliver bone shattering hits, but you can be physical in other ways. Nylander is great in board battles and he's a very strong man when in front of the net. You're right in the sense that he'll never be classified as a "physical player" but he's definitely added elements of physicality to his game.

If Matthews and Nylander can find that chemistry from days past 90 is a possibility. I think he'll hit 40 goals. Can he dish enough assists to Matthews to make up the difference? We'll see.
