TSN interviewed players about Nylanders pre game routine, they have never seen it before. Nylanders pre game routine is to get dressed with 5 mins left before warmup starts, cutting it so close team-mates are stressed he wont make it.

This suits Nylander to a tee, at the last possible moment Nylander starts to check in mentally to the concept of a hockey game...and if he feels like it he may be all star that night, or enigma who didnt really want to put his equipment on.

Like him even more then.

Screw herd mentality!

He's playing really well. He's busted out of the gates. If he can keep this going then the sky is the limit.

Reminds me of the Marleau story about him taking a hot tub or was it an ice bath between periods. That’s gotta take him right up to the last minute.

I actually think it's stuff like this which makes him well suited for a high pressure market like Toronto. The guy has the ability to just block everything out as white noise
Agreeed. He has a f*** you mentality and I love it. It's taken me some time to get used to his play style. At first it looks lazy unengaged style of hockey but he's reading the play out there and looking for his opportunities to use his skillset. It's efficient and cerebral.

Can still be a little frustrating at times but I try to remind myself I am not a professional player and I do not see the game or ice the way he does out there.

Heard this about many players. Seems fairly consistent.

If Nylander had Marner minutes and deployment he'd be doing very well.

Willy is the hero Toronto deserves, but not the one it loves right now. So we'll nitpick his game to death. Because he can take it.

Reminds me of a story about Bo Jackson.

Apparently, coach/trainer/whomever had to frequently wake Bo up to take the field.

lol 90 points. thats laughable
the nylanderites are in full force to start the season ..

You think it's laughable that a 26 year old can't surpass his existing career point total by just 10 points?

Difficult, absolutely. Impossible? Hardly

do ppl even realize how many players hit 90 points in a year ?
is nylander a top15 player in the league for points ?

If you look at guys who hit anywhere in that 90ish-85ish point range (basically the range of being within 90 points with a bit of puck luck) last season alone, they're hardly a class above Nylander.

As I already mentioned in the thread it's unlikely he actually hits that without a bit more favorable 5v5 usage. But it's hardly beyond the realm of possibility
