Nothing is guaranteed in sports or in life, so yes I could see them not winning. There are at least 4 other teams in the East that could make it hard on them. Lots of pressure being such a dominant regular season team as well.

Regular season means very little. Anything can happen in the playoffs. And I don't think their roster is "without flaws". They're getting old and their goaltenders have yet to do anything in the playoffs.

So, of course, I can see them not winning the Cup.

I would like need something like 5:1 odds to bet the Bruins over the field and feel it was a good choice.

Of course it’s easy to see them not winning. There are so many little bounces here and there that make a playoff run. It’s easy to run into a goalie going insane for 2-3 games. Injuries happen, etc.

Don't want to come across as conceited but when I look at their team it doesn't come across as all that "scary"

Obviously their current record is amazing, I just don't think they are as deep or talented as previous teams with the same success.

Every time I watch the Bruins, which is not often, but still, every single time, they look dominant.

In the east it's Boston and Carolina on the top tier, Rangers and Tampa and Toronto next, and my Devils, and the WC teams pulling up the rear. In the playoffs anything can happen, but the odds are ever in their favor.

The Bruins are on pace for one of the best seasons in history. Now they just added Orlov and Hathaway. As far as roster construction goes, they have literally no flaws. This may be the last year of their captain and the players have clearly rallied around that.

Sometimes the best team doesn't always win, but I ask does anyone see this Bruins team losing in the playoffs?
The NYR are my favorites to win the cup.

Goaltending.

There's only been 8 President's Trophy winners that went on to win the Cup the same year, since it was introduced in 1986:

2013 Chicago
2008 Detroit
2002 Detroit
2001 Colorado
1999 Dallas
1994 NY Rangers
1989 Calgary
1987 Edmonton

So the odds are definitely in favor of another team winning it all. All you have to do is look at Columbus' sweep of the Lightning in 2019. Anything can/will happen.

As a Bruins fan, of course we could lose. Injuries could impact any team.
TOR/TBL/NYR don't scare me at all.
TOR has suspect D and G.
TBL has F and D depth issues.
NYR has suspect D from 3/4 downward.
All three will be beaten up by round 2.

CAR is the team that will give the Bruins a good go.

The Bruins GM is to be commended for building an absolutely stellar lineup and giving his team the best possible chance to win the cup. They lose in round 1, Sweeney is not to blame IMO. He has constructed an insanely good roster that can withstand a few injuries through the rigors of a Stanley Cup Run.

Having said that... anyone can lose in the playoffs and winning a cup has a lot to do with being very good (eg. well built) and lucky (eg. no injuries, poor ref calls, bad bounces).

Boston is also in a brutal bracket!

I have them losing round 2, but this trade does lower my confidence in that pick

1996 Red Wings set the regular season wins record, and didn’t even make the Finals.

2019 Tampa tied that record and lost in the first round.

For that matter, 5 of the 8 winningest teams failed to even make the Finals. The other 3 teams were Montreal’s late-70s dynasty. 5 of 8 ran roughshod over the league and then went home with a whimper. Boston will be the next to try.

As someone said upthread, anyone can go 3-4 in 7 games against a good/hot opponent. Shit happens in the playoffs.

I seriously doubt they lose to whoever gets the WC2, only way it happens is if it’s the Isles and Sorokin goes full Hasek and even that might not be enough
Doubt away, but not having successful playoff experience at your most important position is a problem.

Injuries and random hot streaks happen all the time, especially running into a hot goalie.

If the 2019 Tampa team can be swept in round 1, then anything can happen

With that said, no one can compete with them on paper.
