Sweet Lord yes.

Gather round the fire. The Lightning fans would LOVE to tell you the story of one of the most embarrassing things to ever happen in not just hockey, but in all of sports. The story thankfully has the happiest possible ending so at this point the world is lucky we haven't built a statue or raised a banner in commemoration to our failure. How the hell do you win 62 games and not only not win a game but start by blowing a 3 goal lead in game 1? Grasping that level of failure is like trying to walk around the Andes mountains instead of climbing over them.

Winning the Cup is hard dawg. Don't be shocked if Boston doesn't come through

There's no team that has ever been a lock to win the Stanley Cup. As has been pointed out, some of the strongest regular season teams ever (in terms of results) have been bounced well short of the Stanley Cup. Particularly true of teams whose dominant records look a fair bit better than their roster would indicate.

A hot goal tender can stop even the best teams from winning. I could see it.

Nothing about playoff hockey is predictable.

They are likely gonna have to go through two of Tampa, Toronto and Carolina to make it out of the east so yes I can easily see them not winning the cup. We’ve seen plenty of dominant regular seasons end early in the playoffs .

Lol if you look at any 1 spot in the standings it will look bad against the field.

Presidents trophy winner wins the cup more often than any other single position

I don't think you realize it but you just confirmed that there's a better chance Boston doesn't win the Cup than they do.

we gets threads like this every year about a team and they end up not winning the cup. Not saying they won’t cause they are clearly a very good team but the cup isn’t won in the regular season.

Who knows, it’s been 10 years since a team won both the president’s trophy and the Cup and it’s only happened 4 times since the year 2000

It always baffles me that people watch sports for decades and still are convinced you can count on these kinds of things.

Of course I can see them not winning it. Do they have a great shot? Of course and as a fan, I’m happy about that. But the uncertainty of it at all is most of what makes me interested in watching in the first place.

There are 5 teams in the East that are legitimate threats to win the cup, I think. Boston/Toronto/Tampa/Carolina/NYR. Boston may be the favorite, but they're all so good that any of them winning would not be a fluke. The gap on the ice just isn't big enough.

The Bruins are on pace for one of the best seasons in history. Now they just added Orlov and Hathaway. As far as roster construction goes, they have literally no flaws. This may be the last year of their captain and the players have clearly rallied around that.

Sometimes the best team doesn't always win, but I ask does anyone see this Bruins team losing in the playoffs?
Ask any player from the 1970-71 Bruins.....

One or two injuries and the playing field is even. Toronto, Tampa, Rangers, Carolina and Jersey are all very good teams. Bruins the frontrunner, but it isn't in the bag.

A lot of President Trophy winners haven’t won the Cup. Even some who were totally dominant.
Tampa, Rangers, Carolina, and a healthy Colorado all will be tough challenges.

The Presidents trophy has been given out 36 times while the Presidents trophy team has won the Cup 8 times.

So they have a 22.22% chance to win based upon past performances.

Many a great team that was expected to win has not.

There is no such thing as a lock to win a cup. The playoffs are a whole new ballgame and playing a team once every few months is much different than playing them in a 7 game series.

NHL playoffs are so random and chaotic than I would bet money on them not winning the Cup tbh.

Wouldn't hate seeing them win though ngl.

The Bruins must be giving OP nightmares based on how much he has flip flopped on them monthly this season.

Tampa Bay in 18/19 tied the record of most wins (62) and didn't win the Stanley Cup.
Detroit in 05/06 had 58 wins and the 6th most points all time (124) and didn't win the Stanley Cup.
Florida in 21/22 had 58 wins and 122 points and didn't win the Stanley Cup.
Washington won 56 and 54 games respectively in 15/16 and 09/10 and didn't win the Stanley Cup.
The 2010/2011 Canucks won 57 games and didn't win the Stanley Cup.

Boston is odds-on favorite, but there is plenty of evidence it's not a done deal, this isn't the NBA. I personally think Toronto, Tampa and Carolina are all perfectly capable of taking them down.

They'll make it out of a brutal east and get destroyed by the Avs that came out of a cake walk in the West.

Yes? Lots of people do, we'll see what that goaltending does when it matters, neither is terribly experienced.
