Can we buy out Richards now instead of the offseason? Sick of this sad lazy piece of ****.

this isnt about beever is it ? cause if it is, hes certainly not lazy nor sad.

its about people being butt hurt over anything thats not glowing and positive about ny rangers X captain ryan callahan.

hes gone. move on people.

Richards is getting paid 133K per point.

Callahan was getting paid 193K per point.

:sarcasm:

12 mil to just score, Cally blocks shot, great PKer, finishes every body check, leads, forechecks, backchecks, chips in scoring, Richards should shut the **** up

Just because someone is overpaid, doesn't mean they aren't contributing. Richards is tied for lead in points on this team. This guy has become quite the pariah here.

Unless Callahan suddenly learns how to play LW at the NHL level I don't see a good reason to sign him.

And Brad has been a great PPer for us and obviously a leader on the team as well.

I like how you move the goalposts, though, to suit your argument. ;)

Frankly, Richards contributed more to the team this year than Callahan did. Callahan was pretty bad this season (the worst season for him since his rookie year). He was abhorrent offensively and the team has moved away from the shotblocking. He also was injured once again (something that you don't give Richards credit for -- SHOCKINGLY -- in your list of stuff above).

I loved Cally while he was here. But he moved himself off the team when he wanted to be paid almost as much as Nash.

Since when is the NHL.com listed player position accurate?

He shoots left, playing on the right gives him a better shooting angle. He plays on the RW right now, every game for the Rangers. I'm sorry if the reality of the situation is killing your dream of getting Callahan back.

Even if they moved Nash to the left, Callahan is still the 3rd best RW after MSL and Zucc. You don't pay your 3rd RW 6mil. It's not happening.

Exactly. Some of the stuff said about him is utterly absurd. I would think you'd see this stuff on the Debbies forum and not from posters who supposedly watch the New York Rangers play hockey.

I'll agree to disagree, Richrads blew chunks last year, Cally was hurt twice this year, factor that into your points/dollar

Richards was literally playing like a 4th liner last year. He's playing like a 2nd liner this year. He's having a good year for himself.

Credit where credit is due, much better than last years lost year

Richards has produced this year and quite honestly looks like he has upped his game into another gear since the acquisition of MSL.

At the end of the season, sure. I think that's a stretch to describe his whole season, though.

Richards is also the only non-4th line center over 50% in the dot. Considering awful Stepan and Brassard are, this is huge.

Yeah, how dare you tell the truth, Brad.

He was tremendous in Marty's first game. Since that he's been one of the worst forwards on the team imho. I'd try swapping him and Brassard.

I have no problem with his comments. It shouldn't surprise anyone anyway.

Love to know Steps faceoff % on PP's, I'm guessing about 30%

We have Marty St. Louis, Rick Nash, and Mats Zuccarello down the RW; where the hell is Callahan supposed to play?..

This. I guess we could move Nasher back to LW and roll this:

Nash-Stepan-MSL
Kreider-Richards-Callahan
Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello
Hagelin-Moore-Boyle? Carcillo? Dorsett?

too many forwards

Am I the only one (save for 1979) who wants to see Zucc keep up this kind of intensity and play for more than a season before we consider him better than Ryan Callahan?

Zucc is presently my favorite forward on the team, but he's about as effective this year as Callahan was last year, and last year wasn't even Cally's best.

What is contributing to you, then?

I never said his play was awe-inspiring. But to claim he's not contributing is borderline laughable.

Meh, I suppose we can debate the definition of 'contributing', but I'm not going to do that. I think Richards should look in the mirror more and comment on teammates/former teammates less, especially after what he did to us last year. Let's leave it at that.

So my friend's wife, yes wife....used to play hockey and I guess met Vinny and Brad and some others somehow or used to play with them in some capacity...whatever. Anyway, she said Richards was the biggest ******* ever. I always tried to defend him, and didn't want to believe it, but comments like make me believe her.

Believe her. The Ranger's preseason trip for the charity golf tournament in Banff and the game in Calgary - she's right.

He only has a third (actually a little less) of the games played that Callahan does, so the sample size is still not huge, but he has produced at a higher rate than him (0,61ppg vs 0,55 ppg) while playing mostly on the 3rd and 4th line.

Now that's not enough to make him a better player than Callahan, but I think it's obvious that Zucc would be ahead in the depth chart.

So you're not going to debate your original point? You specifically said he was not contributing on the ice.

We're normally on a similar page. But it's ridiculous to say that Richards isn't contributing this year. He's been one of our best players.

I 100% agree with you on his play last year. That was atrocious. I think he understands that as well (hence why he came in in such better shape this year). But that was last year. Not this year.
