I hate to say it but it may be time for him to go. His lack of creativity is mind numbing. I also think PLD may be a dud. Has all the talent in the world yet his hockey acumen is lacking.
This is not a playoff team!

PLD had one of his best periods as a Jet in the first tonight imo. The entire team became disjointed in the second once the penalties started and Helle let in a weak goal. If anything, the chemistry he showed with Ehlers at times was the lone offensive bright spot we had going for us tonight. If the play didn't die on Copp's stick so much early on, maybe that line would have found more success.

I volunteer to drive Paul to the airport.

Can we finally put an end to this mess now?

9 bloody years and this team still is fundamentally broken.

f*** off.
A fragile group to boot. Any adversity and they go all keystone cops.

Have we won any games where St. Laurent was involved? Asking for a friend.
Despite our hatred for him, we have a great record when he ref's our games.

I am not saying that at all. Critiquing the Jets and the players is literally the point of this board. My point is that we seem to have reached a point where it doesn't seem to matter what Wheeler does on the ice, there are many who seem set on dumping on him. Him being a lightning rod in tonight's game being the perfect example.

much obliged for the reply!

well, please, allow me to say that from what I've read (and, I try to exercise reasoning, emphasis on "try,") is not hate, but criticism. of course, there is joking, humorous exaggerations and friendly banter, but there does not seem to be hate expressed in posts. additionally, people seem to be writing what they are precisely due to ol' cement legs' play and level of performance for the past few seasons.

Yup Dubois is taking the puck deep to try to open things up but yeah our players don't go to the red paint. I have no idea why anyone is complaining about his game. He was in the red paint all night battling and that is exactly what we need more of in the top 6.

I’ve loved PLD pre season games and both games so far in the reg season……exactly what I thought he would be and what we need (so many people just look at points sadly). Only parts of PLD game this season that I would like to see improve is zone entries with his wingers (partly wingers fault), FO’s and occasional bad penalty.

But do we need to hear that in every GDT/PGT regardless of how he played?

I don’t question Wheeler’s hustle at all. He is one of the hardest working Jets.
I fault Maurice for his utilization of Wheeler.

forgive me, but I do disagree with this. I recall observing ol' cement legs lacking hustle in games past in previous seasons, regardless of why. paurice alluded to injury, but never explained why (unless, I am currently forgetting in which case I apologize.) paurice allows him to pretty much do whatever he chooses out there with impunity.

I think it's more of the fact the we over run our top guys to often and with the amount of talent we have on this team it shouldn't happen

Sure, I get that - but his play was not why we lost and this is a PGT - so I don't get it.

need? no, there is no need. just like there is no need for any of us to post any messages on here. with that said, this is a place to chat, is it not? if so...

I mean, if the opinions of some of the posters here while watching a game are critical and/or humorous (which is subjective) of ol' cement legs, they might as well convey them.

I can live with the occasional over zealous physical penalty because I want him to walk that power forward line. Yeah him and his linemates need to sort out there entries but that also seems to be a team issue as a whole right now so it could be do to systems still being learned.

Yeah, if there is a knock on Dubois' play tonight it was the retaliatory elbowing he took after being on the receiving end earlier in his shift. They're going to call that every time. Gotta be smarter than that.

Lol. You said it. He’s playing PP and PK in addition to his regular shift. He is not a top 6 player anymore. He does well to fit in.
Why dwell on it? Because it is exhibit A of why we are 0-2.

So he is why we lost tonight? - you'll need to add a little more detail to that conclusion before I can buy into it.
I don't have a problem with cutting his minutes - but he is not why we lost.

Aren't we 0-2 mostly because Hellebuyck hasn't been very good? He seemed to start playing better after the 4th goal was scored, so maybe he's finally reached cruising altitude.

These are my thoughts.

Back to back games of giving up 2 PP goals, something is wrong. Fans lamented guys like Thompson, Lewis and Forbort last year, but hey you don't give up PP goals, you have a chance to win. So for me it starts there on this road trip.

I am not sure why Pionk is on the PK. Every metric, every year has said that he is not good at it, but lo and behold there he was on 2 goals. I think Stanley showed last year he belonged, so with a man in the box there is still no reason to use Pionk in this aspect. That's a peculiar coaching decision.

The PP is not clicking. I didn't like Wheeler out on the flank in Connor's spot, takes away the danger from the one-timers. He should be behind the net, and around the crease, making passes, acoring garbage goals as his speed wanes.

The most obvious thing to point out is how out of place Perfetti looks. He's not hard on the puck, and he is not winning enough battles. He looks unprepared for the big show, when you compare to other young guys that have made it. Right away moving Harkins up the lineup pays dividends. If you went by preseason that's where Harkins belonged. So I hope that change is permanent. I don't expect Perfetti to be in the lineup for Minnesota. And frankly if you want to not play Lowry-Copp until they can't move, maybe call up that Gustafsson kid, who is pretty good at killing penalties, you'd have a legit 2nd unit then.

I am a little concerned with the Brendan Dillon trade to date. He hits, but he looks like an over 30 d-man out there, who much like Forbort does not move the puck well. Going for the big hit gave up the 3-2 goal, and if he wore the name Beaulieu on the back of his sweater, you'd read 7 pages about it. I'd be looking to move big Stan up the lineup soon.

I don't expect slow starts from the Jets, but something looks disjointed. Hellebuyck giving up soft 1st goals is concerning. Wheeler's regression, though overstated, is concerning. Bad penalties are concerning. The defensive zone coverage is concerning. Special teams play is definitely a concern. The sky doesn't fall unless the homestand looks the same as the road trip, but I expect a little more dominance out of this roster. Hopefully it is something that can be had through in team adjustments, because the results are obviously disappointing to date.

The tank and fire Maurice threads are probably nearing their approach:sarcasm:
