I understand LA being disappointed with Byfield not hitting the ground running after he got drafted but he's just not the kind of prospect you give up on. Despite his struggles a young 6'5" C with the potential of Byfield is not something that comes around often. Best to just hold and see what happens.

Based on what? They are the same age. Wolf was the best player in the AHL. Byfield hasn't had a top notch season since he was 17. Wolf has performed MUCH better. It's really not remotely close. It's like comparing Crosby to an average forward in terms of actual performance. Yakupov was taken at #1. Byfield is much the same.

The flames hav worst prospect pool and you said the flames has multiple prospects better than byfield lol. he hasn't even played one full season yet.

Getting outscored and outproduced at the NHL level by some dude named Chinakov nobody had ever heard of as the #2 overall pick

Here's a list of 1st round forwards taken in 2020 that have outproduced Byfield's pace at the NHL or AHL level:

Alex Lafreniere
Tim Stutzle
Lucas Raymond
Alexander Holtz
Jack Quinn
Marco Rossi
Cole Perfetti
Anton Lundell
Seth Jarvis
Dylan Holloway
Lucas Reichel
Dawson Mercer
Yegor Chinakov
Hendrix Lapierre
Jacob Perreault
Brendan Brisson

So basically all of them but a couple

Poke fun if you want. Only casuals get attached and fixated on where a player is drafted. Of these blue chip prospects one has done nothing but sharply trend up and the other has done nothing but sharply trend down since draft day. I don't really know what exactly their value is in NHL circles and neither does anyone else unless they get traded. To say their value isn't even comparable though? Really screams ignorance.

The facts are that one is a top 3 prospect in the world at their position, and the other is Quinton Byfield.
if Wolf is so good and Byfield isn't, why do you want him so bad?

We have a below average prospect pool. Pelletier has vastly outperformed Byfield in the AHL. That's indisputable. Wolf is definitely better as well. Coronato might win the Hobey Baker this year. That's multiple players.

We don't want Byfield. Byfield will be Puljujarvi. They are very similar. Goof physical tools, no hockey sense.

I do think that sometimes these big guys take a while to figure things out. Look at Tage Thompson and Kirby Dach. They are used to just powering through kids in junior but NHLers are strong AF.

This isn't anything but an opportunity for people to come in and shit on Byfield, honestly.

I love Wolf but Blake would and should get tarred and feathered if he even stayed on the phone to hear 3 words after this proposal.
86% of people in agreement with you.

You “I‘M SUCH A VICTIM”!!!!!!

I think something around Wolf for Turcotte would be a fair trade. It just depends on if Calgary value's a potential starting goalie more then a potential top 6 forward.
As well as their belief Turcotte isn’t a bust. Spence must be included to account for the fact one guy has greatly outplayed his draft status while the other has grossly underperformed and been injured a lot.

While Kings very likely decline this is just a stupid breakdown on the proposal. Joe Pavelski was a 7th rounder in the year Eric Staal went 2nd OA. Do you think Columbus should have traded Ryan Murray for Connor Hellebuyck? Wolf is a top 3 goalie prospect in the league, writing him off as a "7th rounder" is complete ignorance.
Its a stupid breakdown but Wolf was a possible 2nd/3rd round pick. He dropped all the way to the 7th round despite his numbers.

Stockton was one of the better teams last season and probably due to Wolf as well. So far he is doing more than okay and who knows how his and Byfield his career will turn out.

That said, it’s laughable there are people out here who don’t think this idea is totally ridiculous RIGHT NOW.

Byfield has been a pedantic disappointment so far since being drafted. Jessie Puljujarvi Ver 2?
Wolf hasn't... in fact he's been an exciting superstar. Calgary gets the short end of the stick in this trade.

Interesting take.

One is playing AHL hockey and has yet to hit NHL surface & the other plays in the AHL but at the big stage too (NHL).

Wolf is an exciting superstar while being in the AHL and Byfield while being in the AHL a pedantic disappointment.

HFboards at its finest. 😀

I mean... Wolf could be one of the best goalies in the league in a few years. I have short term CGY and long term favours the Kings.

Key phrase here. Until a goalie actually starts to perform in the NHL they rarely have significant value. Wolf is extremely talented, but also very underdeveloped physically. Love having him in the organization, but until he shows he can play in the NHL, he's just not worth anywhere close to Byfield.

So basically you come up with this topic to pimp Dustin Wolf and ridicule Byfield ?
Seriously, than you are an incredible ***.

I’d really like it if the Flames could actually develop a goalie… the local media loves to pump Markstrom’s tires as “one of the five best goalies in the world” but they say it so often it takes on an “any man who must say ‘I am the king’ is no true king” vibe.

I don’t trust him, and I think it’s good to have someone like Wolff in reserve - Markstrom is already 33, he’s not going to be around forever.

I truly think wolf could be our starter in a couple years, he looks like an absolute stud and tbh would rather just keep him.

I get Byfield is a super high draft pick, and a big center but seems like he is struggling a bit to reach his potential this far into his contract (I know he is still young). And i get why LA wouldnt trade him this quickly but 14pts in 56 nhl games and 27pts in 47ahl games over the last few years just does not seem worth our potential future goaltending.

If Byfield's actually available I'd give up a hell of a lot to get him on the Jackets. Fits the rebuild timeline and positional needs.
