I don't believe this one bit. Lombardi gave Richards a chance by not buying him out during the offseason. It'd make no sense to turn around and move him a few months into the season. There will be a team that takes Richards, whether it be Edmonton or whoever else.

Richards won't be a King next season, if he isn't moved by the deadline he will be moved in the offseason.

Buying him out now will handicap the Kings for what, the next 5 years? It wouldn't be worth it. He will be traded even if it's just for a pick.

We're past half-way through the season and Richards hasn't shown any sign that he's waking up. It's the same Richards. Time to cut the dingleberry loose.

Are you going to stick with them or just *****?

Bottom line is we can all sit in our chairs and ***** about these guys, but I have confidence in this team. They are still the defending champs that have to defend the title every ****ing game. This is a league that defines "parity." And this is hockey. One goal matters most nights.

Bottom line, believe in the team or get lost. These "**** this team" comments are childish.

Year after year it's the same thing.

It's like you aren't watching the games but I know you are.

This team as currently assembled is not winning the Cup. You have to know that.

Pretty sure he's telling people to stay loyal to the team and not be a bunch of bandwagonners.

Those who stay positive or "keep the faith", keep what you're doing. Just leave the people who are showing frustrations alone. Quit showing hostility because we sure aren't giving you **** for staying positive.

Please don't use the b-word. Criticism doesn't equal that.

At this point, I'm so meh it's ridiculous. I don't even focus on the games recently. I made some calls, did a bunch of paperwork, and had some beers during the entire game and I never even had interest in it. Just background noise behind music.

They were most definitely a contender that didn't live up to expectations in 2011-12 halfway through the season.

I will never forget back-to-back 1-0 shutouts at home in February. Boos rained down because we all knew this team had a real chance at the Cup.

Some of you guys have very short memories.

I agree, 11-12 mid-season was complete misery. It was one of the worst times I've had as a Kings fan, felt like every game needed a miracle to get two goals and the games themselves were sooo boring. And yet we still won the Cup. As bad as things are right now at least the games are watchable and the Kings usually score a couple of goals.

I still feel like the Kings are gonna make the playoffs, they're still only one win away from tying the Sharks in points per game, but as for how well they'll do once they're in I have no idea.

Yeah! Big nasty Regehr back!!!!

It really isn't the players fault at this point.... I mean what was Greene doing on the ice 3v3? Um that's asking Greene to do a whole lot of skating.... Same with Williams 4v4... small/slow don't work well when you have to cover lots of ice and win 1v1 battles....

Solid game.... Kings played well. Bring on the Guppies!!!!

Oh yeah Greener coming through on the first goal of the game for me!!!!!

I think the best SOG during the OT was by Greene 3 on 3.

Maybe that was just me then. Of course i expected them to be better but I still didn't realistically think we were going to win the Cup that year. Even before the Vancouver series.

Still, at least we knew what the problems were in 2012, a coaching move needed to be made and an elite scorer needed to be acquired. Both moves were made and the rest is history.

This season it hasn't been just that one thing, maybe the defense but everyone and everything have been bad at one time or another.

Ahh, the good old "bandwagoner" comment

I meant the people who say "**** this team" without contributing to discussion (which I have done, but jokingly of course)

And I was just pointing out and clarifying what someone else was saying. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

I'll post it again, it's good info
Richards buy-out Cap hits:

2016-17: $1,716,667
2017-18: $2,716,667
2018-19: $4,216,667
2019-20: $4,216,667
2020-21: $1,466,667
2021-22: $1,466,667
2022-23: $1,466,667
2023-24: $1,466,667
2024-25: $1,466,667

Folks....The Kings have to hope some team is willing to take that contract. Lombardi won't be buying out Richards.

Richards has basically been relegated by Sutter to a 4th line grinder, ala Nolan. He no longer sees any time on the pp or pk, which is really surprising because he's always been solid on the pk.

The problem isn't Greene's shot... the problem is his lack of high end speed... which right after the shot he took Greene was going all out trying not to get beat back to the defensive zone.... Just too much ice for Greene.

No worries. This team is frustrating, but I'm over it. They're like an annoying ass kid. Just let them do their thing and eventually they'll settle down.

Thats what I am saying. Its not worth it to buy him out and have his cap remain on the books for 10 years.

Even if it's for a reclamation project/low level prospect or draft pick or another contract with a lesser term, I still think a team will take Richards.

This exact date in 2012 we lost to the Flames 2-1 in a Shootout

We had 56 points in 48 games. Right now we have 52 in 46. There were just as many teams scrapping for those spots. We've seen this movie before, folks.

Herby's green jacket update:

Muzzin -9
Brown -8
Richards -7
King -7

Side note:
Kopitar is a -5 in his last three games...

I couldn't believe he didn't take advantage of it over the summer. The compliance buyout was a dream. I get that Richards really wanted to stay and I'm sure DL was Stanley Cup high, but damn did he really drop the ball on this one.

Richards has basically been relegated by Sutter to a 4th line grinder, ala Nolan. He no longer sees any time on the pp or pk, which is really surprising because he's always been solid on the pk.

Which means he's taking up valuable cap space for a position he's not really excelling at. He shoulda been bought out. Now he's gotta be traded and the Kings may not get much at all in return. Maybe a decent pick, especially assuming the Kings don't retain some kind of salary.

Been saying that for like a month + now.

The Switch needs to be flipped like a two weeks ago. 14 of 38.....It's hard to dress up those numbers.

Sutter is not getting fired either, so can't use that moto card.
