I am assuming the Leafs have done some research into the effectiveness of players playing 3 games in 3 days and also the potential injury risk of it too.

If either one comes back as inefficient then it would make sense to rest them. This is about development after all.

I'd imagine actually playing is a large part of development ;)

FTR, i'm not even saying it's a bad thing. I'm just saying i've never heard of any team doing this.

A lot of their decisions have been way more methodical and calculated than last year. Honestly i dont have a negative thing to say abput the marlies coaching staff...so far....

Thats kinda a gray area. I mean obviously you need to play to get better, but i doubt you'll learn much of anything if you're dead tired and most of your energy is gone. Keefe pretty much said something along those lines when he sat out Gauthier a couple weeks ago.

really, really small sample size. Gotta wait at least 25 games before we can start judging any of em

Just for numbers sake, Vrana has 17 points in 19 games along with 6 in 10 during the playoffs, so definitely more than just this years stats. It's still not enough games to begin comparing players, let alone judging them, though.

If you can name me a better AHL player than Nylander I am all ears and I am not talking about some career AHL guy either I am talking about a guy of similar age putting up similar stats

Too small a sample size right now to say Nylander's the best. He's in the top 25 in scorers in the AHL but they've only played a handful of games.

Sample sizes is right. But Vrana and Ritchie being comparable players is probably a way better judgement to make than saying Nylander is the best AHL player or best player not in the NHL.

Some seriously ridiculous statements to make at this point

No that wouldn't be ridiculous if you're willing to admit Ritchie and Vrana are comparable to Larkin. Because there is no way Nylander is much below him, if at all.

I can but I was more talking about how theyre playing in the AHL, hard to say what Larkin would be doing offensively at that level right now so hard comparison to make. I think Nylander is going to be better than those guys, but that doesnt mean hes playing better hockey so far this season. I think Vrana and Ritchie arent quite on Nylanders level as prospects.

As for this season, Larkin is putting up the same offense Nylander is in the AHL, in the NHL. I would say of that grouping, Larkin is clearly playing the best hockey this year. Could change in the future obviously

Breakaway: We're seeing success with 19- and 20-year-olds across the league with different teams. The plan as laid out is you're not going to call up your prospects until you think they're absolutely ready. But what do you think the chances are this season that some of your higher-end prospects under 21 will be with the Leafs?

Lamoriello: I won't be surprised if they are. What has been said consistently is that they will determine really when they're ready by how they're playing on a consistent basis. And twofold, it's us knowing who we have here. Who will be a part of the big picture. Remember, most of us are new in this area, the coaching staff and myself. We have to give an opportunity for people to see who they are and then that comes together as far as being ready. Primarily it's them having success where they're at right now. There is no question in my mind that there are between five and seven players at the Marlies who will be playing in the NHL in the near future.

See, you're part of the reason people don't like Leafs fans. Just stop it with the hyperbole.

Thing is, I don't care if people who I will likely never meet like me or not and on the off chance I do meet one of them they won't know I am the guy behind this account

With Nylander it's all about one thing now, really. Consistency in-game, and consistency game-to-game. I hope that Leafs have communicated this to him, and made it clear what improvements they want to see before he gets a chance with the Leafs.

One would hope you'd have some self-respect and care about the quality of your arguments though.

anyone have video of his 2 goals tonight or have a opinion on his overall game tonight ?

I was at the game tonight and other than the two goals he was gifted great passes on he wasn't at his best, barely noticed him other than when the Marlies were on the PP, which was quite a bit tbh. Kapanen was also invisible, and at the end of the game pulled a Sedin and let Bertuzzi punch him the face multiple times (Bertuzzi was penalized, but still would've liked to see Kapanen stick up for himself). Leivo, Panik and Sparks were the stand outs for me. But hey if you can pot two goals and be invisible, be invisible all you want.
