A lot can happen in a year so I won't dispute you but Claude Giroux did that exact thing and that is one of the two most common comparisons, though Giroux was drafted much lower.

Yeah I was speaking calibre as a prospect.

I more year of junior, maybe one year in the A.

He can't play do that though. In order for him to play in the AHL he needs to play 2 more seasons of junior. So its most likely 1 more year of juniors and then straight to NHL.

Hope he spends a full season at centre with the Marlies. A year where he can really work on positioning, defensive play, faceoffs, etc. In the NHL there's always a lot more pressure to win now, which would mean more pressure to put Nylander at the position where he'd be most effective in the short term (wing), but in the AHL he can round out his game as a centre so he can step right into that role when he makes the Leafs.

Nylander on the left, not looking so small anymore

Looks jacked in those picks. Wouldn't be surprised if he's over 189 pounds now

Rielly and Nylander are gym rats, that's for sure. Hopefully Marner follows suit

And eventually Auston Matthews or Jakob Chychrun as well ;)

Outsider fan, is Nylander expected to make the team this year?
Looks like the plan is for him to be 1c for the Marlies. Both him/Marner are C/W prospects and the Leafs want both to go back to their respective leagues and work on playing C. Would be great if they worked out as 1C and 2C of the future. The talent's there, that's for sure.

I'm calling it now, Nylander is going to have a similar impact on Babcock's Toronto teams that Zetterberg and Datsyk had on his Detroit teams. His skill and IQ are simply out of this world.

It's the hair that makes him seem like he's a primadonna IMO. People think he must be as high maintenance as that glorious hair of his

Lot of talk going into the draft that he was a primadonna, but ever since he's got here, seems like a dedicated guy. Always puts work in at the gym, one of the first guys on the ice, done everything the organization has asked.

Trust me, I know. Shanny put in the research to find out for himself. Even if he was, that sure wouldn't be the case for long once Babs got his hands on him.

He's probably capable of playing in the NHL at some capacity but I don't expect that he will. Patience, patience, patience is what this management group has been preaching, they'll probably give him a taste but have him as the #1 center in the Marlies for the majority of the year.

The way things look right now the Leafs top 4 forward prospects (Nylander, Marner, Kapanen, Brown) could all debut together in the 2016-17 season.

It was never an issue. Neither was his size, for that matter.
