Athletic-Pronman's top 32 for March 25

I would have lost money thinking Thatcher Demko was going in the 1st in 2014. I think Bob had him #27 on his final survey. In this year's midseason survey, Bob had Ravensbergen ranked #28. Maybe mix in a weaker class of skaters and a team may feel more compelled to take a chance with a goalie.

Taking a look at the ~20-32 range:

Calgary (via NJD) - Probably not taking a goalie high with Wolf
Los Angeles - took Carter George in the 2nd last year, so maybe an unlikely suitor
Philadelphia (via COL) - maybe?
Philadelphia (via EDM)
Columbus (via MIN) - took Evan Gardner with a late 2nd last year, but maybe could be a fit.
Carolina - no goalies taken last year, handful of late round guys recently. Probably a big enough age gap between Kochetkov and Ravensbergen to consider it.
Nashville (via TBL) - maybe an Askarov replacement?
Montreal (via FLO/CAL) - They have Jacob Fowler but I seem to remember them in the Askarov sweepstakes
San Jose (via DAL) - Probably not now that they have Askarov
Chicago (via TOR) - Couple recent 2nd round goalies (Commesso/Gajan) and a young guy in Knight.
Nashville (via VGK/SJS)
Washington - no recent notable goalie draft picks, they have been active on the undrafted free agent market.
Winnipeg - seems unlikely with Hellebucyk chugging along but maybe not the worst idea to have an heir apparent?

I could definitely see the Caps taking Ravensbergen with their first. He plays with their 1st from last season, so they see him a lot.

Not saying Desnoyers should be drafted top 3, I don’t think he should but he has good offensive skills. He has 80 points in 54 games in the QMJHL, It’s not like he isn’t productive. His hands are good, his shot, everything is there he’ll just need to play with more pace.

Pronman has never met a prospect over 6ft that he doesn't like lol. Also just such a stark contrast in the writing quality of each of the blurbs between him and Wheeler

Off chance for Carolina. I'd be okay with it but management seems high on Khazheyev.

With 2 late 1sts and having traded their top goalie prospect, Preds seem like team that might well take goalie in 1st.
 
I think this year the playoff performances of many of these prospects are going to matter more than past draft years.

Past the obvious choices for top spot it seems like a jumbled mess where nobody has broke away from the pack.

I could easily see prospects who play on teams poised for deep playoff runs and memorial cup/frozen four spots skyrocket up the rankings while players on bad teams dip down because they are "out of sight / out of mind"

For example, Desnoyers plays on the #1 ranked CHL at the moment. If Moncton wins the memorial cup it will be on the back of Desnoyers and you'll have guys like Button and Pronman banging the drum loudly.

Big fundamentally sound player whose size/skating/physical game gives him a very high floor but the question will be whether he can score enough to actually be a valuable NHL player instead of just a big fungible 4C.

Also, it's "you make your bed now you must sleep in it" not "live in it". I guess you are so not-upset that you bungled an incredibly common turn of phrase.

You take these rankings way too seriously. It's not that big a deal. Hagens is an undersized forward that doesn't have a great two-way game. Desnoyers is a 6'2" two-way forward that has surprised scouts with his production. No need to cry because your favorite player got ranked low

Hagens actually plays a good two-way game. Skates well, but yeah isn't the biggest.

NCAA vs QMJHL is not even comparable too.

That said, I agree, who cares on one guys ranking. Pronman usually views it how NHL teams do tho (to an extent obviously)

Hagens seems to be the next in a long a line of top prospects who has been in the public eye for a long time and now his game is getting picked apart.
