If I am the Leafs i do NOT want Nylander nor Matthews blocking any shots.

My God you will watch an entire Rogers Arena WINCE if they see Mc David go down to block a shot.

WN is a great prospect, I'm not disputing that. Talk to me during playoff time when guys start taking runs at him and he double flamingos on a shot from the point in a meaningful game.

FYI the Oilers play at Rogers Place

Yes I have actually. I'm not really worried about it, if the staff has an issue they'll talk to him and he can have a better feel for blocking a shot against one of the most lethal one timers in the game.

He's also tied for 4th in points right now in the league. He's doing something right.

You know you are playing really well when the haters can only pick out a play that in the grand scheme of things doesn't even matter. Enjoy it. Nylander is an amazing player. Absolute stud.

Willy Nylander is no Patrick Kane. Kane has never and will never double flamingo

It's fine to criticize the double flamingo, my problem with your comment is pointing out his hit and blocked shots totals like that matters for a big time scorer. Are you arguing that it's OK for these other scoring stars to not hit or block shots because they score a lot of points? Well Nylander has as well and his on his way to doing it on a consistent basis. Is your rule that until a player hits a certain point threshold he should be hitting and blocking shots on the regular?

LOL, the irony of a Vancouver fan ****-talking another fanbase... :help:

Nylander is a PPG superstar, best player in his draft along with Ekblad. Seven teams passed on him. Hope you enjoy seeing him in a Leafs sweater for the next 15 years.

Plenty of PPG superstars don't achieve anything, especially the ones who double flamingo. You'll learn soon enough

That was a Stamkos one timer. I don't blame the kid. You go stand in front of one of those.

Gotta love the posters that have a holier than thou attitude who try to "enlighten the masses" as if they're more knowledgeable than the average fan.

Excuse me? All I did was express my opinion, that's what this website is for isn't it? It's not my fault I had to respond to 20 different comments because everyone started crying because their cute little golden boy received a bit of criticism. If my comments don't matter then don't respond to them.

I guess this is the new NHL. 2016. It's cool to double flamingo and not sacrifice your body for your team nowadays. Gotcha

Let's humour you just for a minute

Let's pretend that goal is ALL nylsnders fault. You still say you can't win with players like him?

Would you agree he MORE than made up for his first and only error this season literally moments later as he scored a goal, and made an incredible defensive play that resulted in an assist on a Matthews goal?

Since you clearly agree with me, you are admitting that a player who is personally responsible for his team scoring more goals than they give up, is very much helping his team win. Correct?

How many times do you need to say "double flamingo" in one thread? Holy crap.

It's the first month of his first full season in the NHL. Yes, he jumped over a shot from Stamkos and didn't block it. Is he the first prospect to do that? No. The first player in general? No. Does that mean it'll happen again? No. Does that mean he's a bad player? No.

Focus on the positives instead of getting yourself completely hung up on one individual moment. It's hard to ignore your comments when you keep going on and on about them despite every single person in this thread disagreeing with you. Fans of other teams are coming in here with positive comments and no one seems to care about this one event you are so worked up over.

While you're at it refer to the post that shows the # of hits and blocked shots that some star players in the league generate each season. You conveniently ignored that.

If your comment wasn't asinine to begin with you wouldn't have twenty people throwing comments at you.

But typically people back their opinions up so posters can properly discuss them. Fly-by comments don't amount to much in the way of discussion.

The Leafs would strongly prefer Nylander keep his body intact so he can score and set up Matthews. :)

Clinging to one blocked shot attempt to roast Willie over the coals, while seemingly ignoring everything else positive he's done so far? One ole on a shot block is unforgivable apparently. If that's the worst con you can come up with from his early play...

The Blackhawks are a modern day dynasty and Willy Nylander is no Patrick Kane. Kane has never and will never double flamingo

We made the wrong pick. Accept that and we can move on. Nylander is going to be a stud.

Unfortunately for us, Ownership and management has forgotten nothing and learned nothing from the 2011 Series.

LMAO, you are definitely projecting here. I'm sorry your team's superstars "haven't achieved anything" (a lot of Canucks fans would disagree), but Nylander has 15+ years ahead of him, so to imply he won't achieve 30 games into his career is kind of pathetic.

Yeah, it's both comical and frustrating.

Imagine the horror if one of the Sedin's or some other Canuck ever dared to NOT block a shot in October! ;)

What does this have to do with our pick? I'm here commenting about Nylander. I'm not comparing him with anybody and I'm not representing any certain fanbase

If this were a playoff game or that type of atmosphere. Maybe, you'd have some merit, and not much at that.

But 6 games into the regular season? He better not be blocking no Stamkos one timers. You're hurting the team more by getting yourself injured than stopping one potential goal(in this case it was a goal).

I think Babcock even told Datsyuk, Lidstrom and Zetterberg not to block certain shots like if they came from Weber, Phaneuf, Chara etc

Not sure if he's said the same thing to Nylander about the Stamkos one-timer but either way, let's give it a rest guys.

Early play this season has been magnificent and has definitely exceeded my expectations.

Welcome to HF, keep up with the logical posting :handclap:
