So you are under the impression that the Chicago Blackhawks would have more Stanley cups if leading scorer in the entire NHL Patrick Kane sacrificed offence to be better defensively? Do you agree patrick Kane should be diving in front of Shea Weber to block a slap shot from the point?

Jonathan Toews has one third the amount of blocked shots compared to Nylander. If Willie doesn't care about winning, Toews must hate it with a passion....

Have you EVER seen a player double flamingo like he did? It was brutal. He has just 1 hit on the season and only 3 blocked shots.

To be fair, he usually has the puck on his stick creating scoring chances in the offensive zone, so he doesn't get all that many opportunities to pad these important stats. I suppose that's also why his less important stats such as goals and assists are so padded.

To see a player jump out of the way like Nylander did was completely embarrassing and it just goes to show that he isn't willing to do whatever it takes to win.

Actually it goes to show he is willing to contribute by staying in the game and trying to contribute using his strengths rather than trying to awkwardly block a shot and spend the rest of the game in the back getting treatment from doctors and possibly missing more games in the future.

Come on man, think logically.

This season is a marathon, not a sprint. I'd rather see one of the NHL's top scorers play at 100% rather just sitting on the sidelines like we've ad to endure with Crosby and Eichel

Lol so much salt and jealousy that Nylander looks like a superstar. Better get used to it now so it makes the next 10-15 years less painful for you

Okay yeah Willy don't worry about blocking shots, your team has great defence and supreme goaltending. You can double flamingo all you want, buddy.

Pardon? I'm here discussing prospects, are you not doing the same thing?
You're just rambling about that one individual play rather than the season as a whole. Nylander has clearly met or exceeded expectations (depending on who you are), yet you're focusing on one situation where he didn't block a shot with the sole intention of stirring **** up.

Pardon? I'm here discussing prospects, are you not doing the same thing?

Kane: 37 hits, 21 blocks
Tarasenko: 32 hits, 28 blocks
Tavares: 51 hits, 29 blocks
Seguin: 80 hits, 27 blocks
Giroux: 83 hits, 36 blocks
Kucherov: 61 hits, 28 blocks
Klingberg: 44 hits, 68 blocks
Carter: 89 hits, 39 blocks
Gaudreau: 26 hits, 10 blocks
D. Sedin: 20 hits, 19 blocks
Scheifele: 53 hits, 36 blocks
Malkin: 27 hits, 19 blocks
Jagr: 31 hits, 16 blocks

Please respond to my post. I want your input and you have continually ignored it.

You guys need to stop. The leafs have good players now and people cant stand it. Nylander has done nothing but DOMINANTE in north america. He isnt good, decent, excellent, fair, he has dominated every level of NA pro hockey over the last three years. Some of you try to detract from him because he wont block a slapshot? He doesn't wear shot blocker gear for a reason, nor does he play pk. I need my best players to actually play the game, not intentionally injure themselves. Good PK players are good because of their willingness to sacrifice. Luckily... we don't need 23 PK'ers on a team. Nylander isn't a leader type, he doesnt need to be doing these "heroic" deeds, what he NEEDS to be doing is focusing on generating points... which coincidentally... he has done an amazing job doing.

Yes! Not to mention people make a lot of assumption about his defensive game too because he isn't doing things like this, or gassing himself to backcheck, and to them that excludes him having any defensive play. The reality is he plays a lot more efficiently with his positioning and using his stick to accomplish defensive responsibilities. There are more than one or two ways to get the job done.

I know hockey players, specially NHLs are supposed to "take one for the team", but I wouldn't want to stand in the way on a Stamkos shot!

I think he should get away with "chicken out" because:

1) He's not an third/fourth liner, of whom it doesn't matter if he gets hurt or not (people do get injured sometimes when blocking shot, so there is a cost on this defensive play).

2) It's not the playoffs.

The Blackhawks are a modern day dynasty and Willy Nylander is no Patrick Kane. Kane has never and will never double flamingo

Sorry you didn't get Willy man :(

Hope you guys have better luck next draft!

also Kane wouldn't "double flamingo" because he barely goes on the defensive zone and if someone was winding up he would got the other way, it is ridiculous that Nylander does this one time and that guy has 20 posts about yet I 100% guarantee he has never complained about Kane.

If I am the Leafs i do NOT want Nylander nor Matthews blocking any shots.

My God you will watch an entire Rogers Arena WINCE if they see Mc David go down to block a shot.

Same, in the playoffs or important games? Go ahead and give it up to save a shot. In a game where your goalie sucks and gives up 5 goals a night regardless? Don't do it.

I hate that Marner blocks shots..there have been a couple of scares.
