Prospect Info: C/W Jiri Kulich, 28th Overall, 2022 NHL Draft; Recalled 11/15/2024

Some rough takes in this thread (pg 41). Glad to see Kulich hasn't fallen out of the top 5 Sabres prospects  Levi over Kulich for #1 prospect is a laugh as well.

Glad to see he's really doing it as a center. The ceiling was always high, but filling in the shift-to-shift gaps in his game will make him an incredibly valuable player for a long time.

Adams was right to regard him as untouchable.

I love the Victor Olofsson comparisons

Kulich sort of reminds me of Pastrnak. I think he ends up at wing and is really, really dangerous.

That's what BB mentions. I also think he's either a lower line scoring center (worst case) or could turn out to be a Pastrnak style winger.

Agree. I think Savoie and Ostlund are centers in the long term, with Kulich moving to wing to take advantage of how he can drive on defenders and his shot.

I think Kulich is going to surprise. I don't see Kulich as the smooth operator that Pastrnak is, but in terms of driving offensive from the wing, I think Kulich can do it.

What's good is that, like Boston, if the Sabres develop their kids right, Kulich won't have to. Pastrnak can certainly drive a line, but he doesn't have to in Boston. I think Kulich may be headed to that same type of role. I don't see him outside the top 6.
I had him pegged as Pastrnak. Still think that's the type of forward he becomes. I still think on a better team with better centers, he's a winger.

Whatever the outcome, I want his summer coach working with any of the other young wingers who remain after their roster shaping. Granted, he's also got a rep as being greatly coachable, so taking the coaching is not a problem with Jiri but might be with others.

I would prefer not to trade Kulich. If he can work on his defensive play he could turn out to be a fantastic 2C

This team needs to build around players and I hope Kulich is one of them.

His potential is sky high. Honestly, if he hits- he could be a top-line, goal scoring machine. Work ethic, wicked shot, competent two-way play for his age, strong skater, etc...he has it all, and the attitude to push his potential to the maximum.

You can also put me in the 'let's not trade Jiri' crowd.

Is anyone talking about trading him? He's untouchable short of being the second piece in a Pettersson type deal. I gave Adams credit for resisting trading him last summer around the Savoie trade and the likely dozens of other times he resisted.

I haven't seen it anywhere other than fan stuff here. With how his work as the defensively responsible one who also goes to the net offensively has been working with Thompson on his wing... I'm not all that interested in what people want to ask for. That's working too well.

Yes, people are talking about trading him. The topic has come up when it comes to trading for Pettersson. You should read the Roster Thread you will find the conversation there.

Also as a side note you ask if anyone is talking about trading him then say he can be traded for Pettersson.

Literally all the trade talk around Pettersson is purely fan and pundit speculation. Thats what this board is about. We the fans talk about trading Cozens, Power, Byram and others.

So when you ask has anyone talked about trading him the answer is yes, even you.

Even the talk about Cozens and Byram is completely made up. That was never a "rumor" out of Sabres office or Vancouver's office.

To be fair, literally not one sabres player has been rumored to be in a trade by either team or pundits. Elliot Friedman gave an educated guess on what Pettersson was worth and he said Cozens and Byram that wasn't an actual rumor. That was not a rumor out of the sabres or canucks offices.

Then fans ran with it. So pretty much every sabres player talked about in trades is fan staff here.
