Sometimes miracles
Very good PKer as wellEmberson has been great for us. Really solid 3rd pairing guy.

And the “you can’t go all in every year”.Outside of Ekholm and Kane, I don't miss the you can't squeeze GMs era
No- it’ll be league minimumThey're going to waste even more money on Saad than Klingberg aren't they.
I don’t think there is any appetite on doing anything with the goaltending by management. Stu and Dusty are full entrenched in this organizationI don't love Bowman's inaction on the goalie and (proven top four) D file, but Saad is a no-brainer if he is willing to sign for an immaterial cap hit. Even when Kane is healthy he'll have all kinds of rust, and it would much better to ease him into game action in the bottom six than expect him to just slot in next to McDrai right away.
We also don't know what Kane will even be post surgery. Can he still play the style that makes him so effective? Is his wrist any better from that skate cut, which robbed him of a lot of shot velocity?
I still want a defender who has played in someone's top four more recently than 2022 + a goalie who isn't in the bottom third of the league statistically, but I can't fault us giving Saad a look. It just can't be the only thing we do.
In no world does Emberson come out of the line up.There's gonna be a glut of players here if they sign Saad
RNH McDavid Hyman
Saad Draisaitl Arvidsson
Kane (?) Henrique Podkolzin
Perry Janmark Brown
Kapanen Philp Ryan
Skinner (lol)
Ekholm Bouchard
Nurse Magical Trade Deadline D
Kulak Klingberg
Stetcher Emberson
Regula Brown
The above is stupid and overkill, ship out someone (Kane, Arvidsson) and bring back John Gibson, we need insurance in net more than continual forward/D adds.
I wouldn't be married to Arvidsson, JSkinner, Henrique ... these guys are not living up to the contracts they signed and I wouldn't be opposed to seeing 1 or 2 of the 3 gone. Signing them is not working out as hoped.
Lets see how the team fares with McDavid, Draisaitl and Nuge playing without each other. Going back to 2022-23:He absolutely doesn't drive the play when he needs to which is literally why he was moved to wing a few years ago. If he could we would have kept Draisaitl and McDavid on the same line. He's been tried many a time centering his own line in the last few years and gets very little done.
Nuge has had a good 10-game stretch here but he's already proven what he is.
The Ryan/Philp upgrade might end up being Henrique if we sign Saad.
Kapanen even got time with Draisaitl and McDavid when he first got here, Saad will be the same. Saying "you'll get a chance there" isn't the same as "you have a guarunteed spot there for the rest of the year".
It's not like anyone is playing that hot with Draisaitl 5 on 5 anyone that it would be terribly hard to move someone off that line. I like Podz, but he isn't scoring a ton and Arvidsson is performing like a 4 million version of Yamamoto. Jeff Skinner is in Knoblaugh's dog house. Who even knows what Kane is after all the surgeries.
We have like 50 forwards but no one has taken the ball and properly really secured a top 6 forward slot.
lol why? If they traded for, I dunno, Cale Makar, we're not taking Emberson out of the lineup? In no world does Emberson come out of the line up.
Change isn't always a good thing. We need to be carful with this.
Man stats are NOT EVERYTHINGSaad is a lateral move with Skinner. Saad had 26 goals last year in 82 games vs Skinner with 24 in 74 games. The only difference this year is that Saad isn't producing as much as Skinner(gulp)with more ice time
It's not the end of the world if Emberson comes out of the line up if Klingberg takes his spot and we traded for a bonafide top4 RHD. It means his extension will likely come cheaper toolol why? If they traded for, I dunno, Cale Makar, we're not taking Emberson out of the lineup?
That was an exaggeration, but if Klingberg plays like a second pairing defenceman (huge if, definitely not saying I expect it), and then they trade for a defenceman who's better at everything that Emberson is good at, why wouldn't Emberson come out of the lineup?
I think the last spot on D is going to come down to Emberson and Klingberg. I would obviously give a huge edge to Emberson right now until Klingberg proves anything, but if Klingberg beats him out, then it's Emberson coming out for an upgrade.
Nuge has looked pretty good at centre the last stretch of games. I'd like to see them give him an extended look on the soft minutes line as a centre. Saad could let them do that, and if Kane comes back, it definitely lets them do that.Lets see how the team fares with McDavid, Draisaitl and Nuge playing without each other. Going back to 2023-24:
McDavid without Draisaitl or Nuge:
2.96GF/60 3.1GA/60 in 910 minutes
Draisaitl without McDavid or Nuge
2.66 GF/60 2.48 GA/60 in 1692 minutes
Nuge without McDavid or Draisaitl
2.62 GF/60 2.41 GA/60 in 1170 minutes
And for further comparison the rest of the team without the three:
2.05GF/60 1.94 GA/60 in 3826 minutes
Does this support or negate your claim? I'll leave it up to you to decide.
Then add this in: In roughly 1200 minutes that Leon and McDavid played together 5 vs 5 with Nuge centering the second line the team had 4.68 GF/60 vs 2.82 GA/60.
If Klingberg plays himself into a starting spot on the team I don't see another D upgrade coming.lol why? If they traded for, I dunno, Cale Makar, we're not taking Emberson out of the lineup?

It also gives you a legit reason to go 11-7 when the situation calls for it. Being able to put Klingberg out in offensive situations and Emberson in defensive situations could be a big advantage if you're rolling 7 D.It's not the end of the world if Emberson comes out of the line up if Klingberg takes his spot and we traded for a bonafide top4 RHD. It means his extension will likely come cheaper too
If Emberson is the team #7, you're as good as it gets.
To me that would be a huge mistake. One injury and you're rolling into the playoffs with the same D you started the year with, and you're relying on Klingberg to stay healthy and have no dip in performance. They should be bringing in a second pairing D regardless of how Klingberg pans out.If Klingberg plays himself into a starting spot on the team I don't see another D upgrade coming.
I think Emberson is the perfect RHD #3. He's not getting enough credit around here.
Honestly I would expect a 4th liner to have good GA/60 numbers yes. They basically exist to go out and not get scored on while playing against other teams 4th lines. He's been playing primarily on the fourth line lately did you expect his numbers to be at the top
It can cut both ways though. If the TOI is small enough even a handful of goal scan skew the numbers. But on the whole I agree that you don't expect your 4th line to be giving up a lot playing vs the oppositions scrubs.Honestly I would expect a 4th liner to have good GA/60 numbers yes. They basically exist to go out and not get scored on while playing against other teams 4th lines.
Pretty sure he hit it already (51 games)? I can't remember the number.Emberson needs to hit a certain number of games played to remain an RFA.
He needs two more games. 80 games total. 30 last year, he is playing in game 49 tonight.Pretty sure he hit it already (51 games)? I can't remember the number.
lol come on. Stylistic fits are a thing.I haven't seen that stat count for anything at the end of the game
Yeah, it makes me cringe when folks take Emberson out of the lineup if the Oilers make a top 4 Dman add. No, Klingberg comes out of the lineup in that case, Emberson is rock solid in the lineup and he has the type of game that will show up well in the playoffs, he's getting better and better and is a legit NHL Dman. Lock him up now Stan.In no world does Emberson come out of the line up.
Change isn't always a good thing. We need to be carful with this.
Yep I think the Pens are firmly eliminated along with the Sabres, but that's it. The rest of the teams have at least some reasonable hope.
Islanders picks him up and immediately trade Pulock to the OilersBoqvist waived by Florida.
Scratch off another guy the board freaked out about Edmonton not going after.
