Will be really interesting how he compares to some of the top ranked guys from the rest of 2022 as the season goes along. At this point in training camp I can't say guys like Wright and Slaf have looked much better from what I've seen.

Yeah, Liiga's biggest issue is coaching. Most of the coaches play dull, boring trap games and there's tons of interference - it's like dead puck era hockey. It's not great for a skill player like Lambert. If Lambert becomes a star then I am never going to watch Liiga for scouting purposes again. Success or lack of success in that league seems to tell you very little about how players will perform in the North American game. It is supposedly more NA than other Euro leagues, the rink size is halfway in between, but the style of play is still very different. A lot of the top scorers are just volume shooters that don't have much skill and might struggle in the AHL.
Got to be pretty biased to say that Slafkovsky's training camp performance has been even close to Lambert's as far as I'm concerned. Will be really interesting how he compares to some of the top ranked guys from the rest of 2022 as the season goes along. But Lambert played good at 2021 WJC and 2022 cancelled WJC, and both of those teams were also coached by Pennanen.I'm happy he is doing well. Pennanen was probably the main reason he didn't do well at WJC"s. Just throwing him under the bus etc. Got away and he is doing well.
I'd say its still low, but he's getting looks on the 2nd line today in camp.Likelihood he makes the team? I realize he hasn't signed a contract yet but that could be remedied quickly.
Really pleasant surprise to see him doing so well, esp. for one of my favorite teams.. I kind of lost all hope after WJC.
Does he speak fluent Finnish? Also lost hope with his two/three terrible years in Finland. He was one of the prospects I was rooting for in the beginning, but then it all fell apart.
I'm happy to see his skill thriving over here

Uh, you have an issue with this site's posters regarding Lambert, even though this site was much higher than NHL GMs on Lambert. Or perhaps you expect more from this site's posters than of NHL GMs?So all the talk on here about him being no good for like the past year or 2 didn't turn out to be true??!! Weird!!
Usually fans on this site are ALWAYS correct too lol
In all seriousness tho, it's cool to read so much good stuff about this kid... Seems like he's having as good of a camp as you could hope for
Winnipeg has a great draft strategy - that’s for sure.
When was Lambert projected to be an elite prospect?Obviously it's too early to say, but imagine if Lambert is the elite prospect he was projected to be, and merely had an off-year last season. Winnipeg would make out like bandits.
Prior to the start of the 2021-2022 season, he was projected as a top 2/3 prospect basically everywhere until he started massively under-performing in the Liiga. When was Lambert projected to be an elite prospect?
He was already trending down before 2021-2022 season.Prior to the start of the 2021-2022 season, he was projected as a top 2/3 prospect basically everywhere until he started massively under-performing in the Liiga.
7g 8a in 46 games in a pro league as a 16 year old is trending down. sure it is. meanwhile 7g 10a in 49 games as a 17 year old in the same league got slaf 1st overall. He was already trending down before 2021-2022 season.
Best post in the thread yet But maybe you don't speak fluent English and something got lost in translation.Does he speak fluent Finnish?
