Some people were hyping Lambert during WJC pre-tournament games, but I think we all know what happened then in the actual tournament. Maybe this time wait until the regular season before getting carried away with hype.

Which was btw on the smaller ice, so the theory about how his game is fitting so well to the North American ice pretty much went with that as well. Sure, with his skating, hands and shot he can do something as a bottom sixer, if he humbly accepts a forechecking role.

Unfortunately the more he has the puck the more his below average hockey IQ will come through. He simply doesn’t have great hockey IQ, and from where he is with it now, he definitely will never develop it to be great in the future either. But still, his skills are good or even very good in some areas, and can make him useful to a certain role, if he is willing to work like that.

But people who very much want him to be an efficient NHL top sixer will definitely never get what they are wishing for. A speedy bottom sixer can be very useful still, so he might have a fine career as something like that.

So, you don’t think he has a high hockey IQ? Never heard that opinion before. Thanks for that.

Never read such mocking sarcasm on these boards before. Thanks for that.
HF becomes hard to read when the same opinion is expressed hundreds of times by the same poster(s). Having said that I would fight for your right to do exactly that. Freedom of expression is fundamental to our freedom, and supporting that right is a responsibility.

its hard to take you seriously." humbly accept a forechecking role". WHAT. before he plays 1 game in the league. you come on here and talk about iq yet suggest the player and the team that drafted him should forget about that nonsense about playing on the top 6 and start preparing for a bottom 6 role before his 19th birthday. maybe he is getting mixed signals from the jets who put him on the pp yesterday it seems they might see him as a top 6 player. should he have humbly refused and told them he wanted to concentrate on his forchecking.

As opposed to getting carried away with the negativity.
Exactly. It’s ridiculous.

A couple of posters are drawing a clear line in the sand about Lambert.

Time will tell but you can’t be overly optimistic or pessimistic yet.

although I will say in the recent 4 games I’ve seen him play after the world juniors it has me more optimistic than pessimistic.

the only logical opinion (cautiously optimistic) is the correct one.

Congrats to Brad for staying in the mix after the Jet’s first cuts from training camp.

It’s seems unlikely that he gets past the next round of cuts but I think they will want him in the AHL instead of Liga. So, he might get some games this year if he plays well.

Nobody should really judge him either way.

People act like these months prove what player he’ll be in his prime when he was just drafted as a project

Pretty much every player drafted is pretty much a project on some level. Players drafted in Lambert's range odds of actually becoming an NHL of value (top 9f in his case), is pretty much a coin flip just looking at recent history (since about the 2004 draft). The only guys who aren't projects on some level in the NHL draft are usually 1OA picks, and there isn't always one every year. When talking close to sure-things, you are basically in the Matthews, Eichel, Tavares, Stamkos and MacKinnon tier of forward prospects. And, even MacKinnon and Stamkos had initial growing pains.

He's looked dangerous again tonight. He's really pushing for a spot on the team.
Im not surprised he's doing better playing more straight forward hockey in small rink. He's been a bit of a misfit in Finnish hockey

...But I really hope he doesnt make the team. Dont want to see 3rd season in row where he scores like 20 points. Send him to WHL and let him blow the roof of for change
