Not sure how legit this is, but Lambert to WHL?

If I’d be advising him, I would seriously consider this. His confidence is probably shot. He needs a big reset. He’s still very young. He’d have a games based development instead of practice based development, which would be different for him.

He'd be atleast fun to watch in juniors lol

Lambert should have gone to play in WHL these past 2 seasons, but he didn't. I'm assuming they were worried that going to WHL from Liiga would be seen as a "downgrade" and would affect his draft stock or something. But the draft is now out of the way, so it doesn't matter anymore. After 2 years of wrong choices, hopefully they finally make the right choice with Lambert.

Anything his dad tells him is the worst move possible, as long as his dad is still 100% in the background. We haven't heard a single positive thing surrounding Brads dad since Brad's been a good prospect.

He’s an adult now. He should listen to what Winnipeg thinks is best for his development, whether it’s to stay in Europe or play Juniors.

Amazing skill level, but there’s a reason coach after coach rapidly loses confidence in him. He just doesn’t make good reads on the ice - in all sorts of ways, but very often skating full speed into defenders when there are strong passing options available. So much of hockey is about finding a way to get a teammate the puck with time and space, but when these opportunities are available, Lambert rarely recognizes them, instead tries to beat 1-3 defenders on his own, which consistently fails.

His play style would probably work better in the WHL, which should give him some confidence. But unless he learns to make better reads and play a team game, his game will just fall apart again the moment he hits a higher level, like the AHL.

Lambert Sr. dont, so what does it matter? I kinda think the kid is stupid. After all the wrong choices he does on and off the ice, he still doesnt seem to acknowledge them and keep on doing the same shit, year after year and team after team.
Some stupid people can be intelligent hockey players. He can learn. He is young.

He can learn. He is young.
He unfortunately hasnt showed he wants to learn. Jumping from team to team and even on Team Finland he`s doing the same stuff over and over. Should have learnt by now. Some ppl doesnt wanna change, but accuse others of everything. He certainly looks to be one of thoose. I had high hopes for the kid a few years back, but he doesnt seem to promising anymore. He had all the skill in the world...

Put him in the AHL or even the ECHL far from his daddy. He will need to learn.

Scouching RN seeing all the criticisms of Lambert:

Im sure winnipeg did their homework. Dissapointing WJC nonetheless
Hopefully you're right.
Brad Lambert has hs flaws and shortcomings as a hockey player.
But now it's up on him will he get better and will he learn of those bad decisions and choices what he's made.

Brad is too talented to be next Nail Yakupov / Josh Ho-sang.
But if Brad really continues to listen his smartass father any further then i don't know what to say or think.

Brad needs to find real hockey agent who knows his job and Ross should take his brains out of ass
and realize that Brad is not anymore 10-12 yrs old kid who needs babysitting etc whole goddamn time.

It's a time for Brad to start grown an adult and start
to show maturity and take responsibility of his hockey career.
Because if Brad won't do that now when he's 18 yrs old then he won't do it ever.

I hope you are right, but also Yakupov and Ho-sang were at the time too talented to become what they bacame. I remember when people laughed at the suggestion that Granlund could become a better player than Yakypov.

Lambert is definitely not “too talented” to be the next Yakupov. That’s complete hyperbole. Heck if Lambert had Yalupov’s NHL career (31 points in 48 games as a rookie, 350 games played in the league) - that wouldn’t even be a “bust” for a typical #28 overall pick - that’s actually a pretty decent result. You may hope for more but a lot of times you will get much, much less in reality.

If people stop thinking of Lambert as some sort of phenom who has just had bad development and is waiting to get “unleashed” and just start thinking of him as your average late first round pick who is skilled, fast but highly flawed and a long ways from being an NHL level prospect and not even close to being a sure thing - then I think there would be a lot less “noise” about how disappointing he is. He’d just be a solid prospect worth watching for the long term future.

Winnipeg have an excellent player development system in place. They know exactly when to graduate a player to the NHL, and when to take their time. Sounds like Lambert could use a couple years in the AHL.
