Pronman had him ranked 21st in his redraft. Nice guess!
3rd in the NCAA in points and 1st in goals in his Sophomore season. This kid has a ton of talent, and may be the Canucks best prospect after Podkolzin. I have to think he goes close to the top 20 in a redraft of 2018. He is worth the watch if you ever get a chance.

Madden and the Caucks should be very sure that he is physically mature enough to play with men ( AHL/NHL) before they rush him to the pros. He has skill, smarts, and skating out the wazoo, but has never been big or strong. Just look at what happened to Mittelstadt, as an example to avoid.

Madden has already had an extra year of development in college, compared to Mittelstadt who left after one. Both put up similar numbers in their rookie season. Next year he should be able to hold his own at the AHL level. Definitely will not be in the NHL. Not a lot of spots available and he most likely won’t be ready until 2021/22 season. Should be getting a nice influx of young talent into our lineup that year with the possibility of Lind, Madden, Hoglander, Podkolzin all making a push for the team.

Madden is smaller than Mittelstadt. I am just saying that it wouldn't kill Ty to play another year in college....would probably help his career in the long run.

I agree with this. The AHL isnt a joke league, if Madden isnt ready then he's going to ride the pine and not get much minutes. just look at Kole Lind last year.

The college schedule is a good fit for him. 2 games a week then workingouts and practicing the rest of the time. This will give him time to physically mature, though i dont think he will ever play a heavy game.

Ive seen lots of NE games this year. Madden is head and shoulders above most of the competition in terms of motor, skill and iq....he might just need that 3rd year to catch up physically. He can follow the Adam Gaudette path.

Madden has always kind of reminded me of Troy Terry. Terry had a big sophomore year but stuck around as a junior and still has had a little trouble adjusting to the NHL. I think it would definitely benefit Madden to do another year at NE.

His Dad played 4 years at Michigan, and while you could argue that Ty is more skilled, no one is going to argue that Madden Sr wasn't much tougher, and better able to handle the rigors of pro hockey.

in terms of build, they are similar, same height also. The 2021 iteration of NHL is much less abrasive though, so Im sure this is where the bloodlines come in handy.

Just turned 20, yeah he's been really good but one more year wouldn't be the end of the world. Like you said it could end up being very helpful then he comes to AHL and makes an impact quickly

I agree he needs to develop more physically, he's pretty weak and while he's fast he's not quite explosive. Right now he's put up points but he's not able to control the play consistently yet, would like to see him do that in college before transitioning to a tougher pro environment.

Edit: just as I say this he scores a great goal on a breakaway, but the point still stands.

Don't envision him playing in the NHL next season.

It's either a JR year in NCAA or an AHL season. Up to him to determine which is the best route for him.

Is he ready for the next challenge? Where would he develop more at? Dominating the NCAA again or trying his hand at the AHL level?

I'd like to see him in the AHL next year. I'm not sure that staying at the same level of competition is going to help him as much. It will be a huge adjustment, but it would be a huge adjustment the following year as well. The best situation I feel would be in Europe, but that won't happen.

Probably best to just not compare him to Mittelstadt. Casey didn’t look ready to leave college after one year, and he was completely overhyped due to WJC. I wouldn’t be opposed to him spending another year at Northeastern, obviously it couldn’t hurt. From what I’ve seen of him this year though, he is ready to take the next step.

He controls the play better than most players in the NCAA lol what more do you want? Even MORE control of the play??

The only things holding him back are his size and strength. Everything else in his game looks pro-ready. Uses his speed well, distributes the puck well, and is very smart all over the ice, with or without the puck. To me he is ahead of Gaudette at the same age, I’m sure the Canucks wouldn’t mind seeing Madden go back for another season just as Gaudette did though.

Needs to be in the AHL to start until he adds some size
