True but Madden is years away (at minimum 2). A LOT can happen in that time, for himself and in the depth chart.
Yes, sucks to lose him for possibly a rental, I love his competitiveness, but its also true that he will probably not unseat Gaudette as 3C, his weight being a major hurdle.

...seeing how J.Hughes was being overwhelmed this year while listed generously at 170, Madden is probably 15-20 lbs lighter.

Good luck in L.A. system, where he can be sheltered by LA's larger forwards.

yea... sadly, management's edict this year is to make playoffs....so he is sacrificed. while development is not linear, I would hope Gaudette(his closest comp) will be improving also in two years. he is so similar to gaudette in my eyes that I'm at peace with it. Of our top 5 prospects, he is the one that will have the hardest time to crack our lineup.

Accumulating assets is expressly for this purpose, I dont like the timing, its a year too early in my opinion, but Toffoli is worth the price.... imagine if we ended up with Simmonds...:help:

Nice to see the scouting reports remain mostly consistent post-trade. That wasn't the case with some of our other recent acquisitions...

He might be a little boom/bust but that's a good swing for LA at this point anyway. We have enough "just an NHLer" guys, it's time to swing for the fences more.

Sorry, i just can't see Madden being 152lbs. He's got be at least 165-170.

I'm not worried about that in particular given his dad is also 5'11" and played at 190. Would be strange for Tyler to be that far off in the end.

My son went to school with him, and competed with and against him in a variety of sports. He was about the same size, but now appears to be smaller in height than Madden. He too, is a college athlete(lower level), but is now 180-5 lbs. Huge legs, but not a thick body. As a higher level athlete I can't see Ty not being at least 165, with the sorts of legs that hockey players have, and the training he would have done with his father and his other connections. There was a teammate of Ty's, Sammy Walker(TBL), who is often listed at ridiculously low weights like 141 lbs.. That's nonsense, the info is just out of date. I think he's about 170lb right now.

Some Canucks fans who cheer on our GMs every move now say that Madden wont be an NHLer or was REDUNDANT. I think there just a minority tho

not out of the Norm. We had a prospect at the same age as Madden over 10 years ago, Mason Raymond when he was in college was just 160 max. Madden won't have problem adding weight to an extent. His dad will help and of course the trainers from the Kings will teach their prospects what to do during the summer.

Watched him closely for the last couple of years and size has never been a factor at all. Dynamic skater, very skilled and excellent around the net. Reminds me a little of Trocheck and probably turns out about the same.

Here is an article from a credible source, dated December 4th 2019 saying he’s 5’11” and 155 pounds. Madden responds to questions about his size and states he knows he needs to put on size/strength.

Canucks prospect Tyler Madden keeps racking up goals in his sophomore season with Northeastern

Here’s another from 2 weeks ago where Madden refers to himself as being ‘hockey strong at 150 pounds’:
1-on-1 with Tyler Madden: On having more skill than his dad,...
thanks. Until he actually puts on the 15-20lbs, he wont be able to regularly make an NHL roster. He's got everything else to be a secondary scorer though.

-Cant play centre at pro level
-Hates the rain
-Hair is too wierd
-wasn't gonna sign in Vancity anyways

This thread is literally just hopeful King’s fans that literally learned about him the day of the trade, and knucks fans lamenting the trade...

And his fantasy keeper owners hoping he’s gone to a better situation but being pretty sure he didn’t.

If you have Tyler f***ing Madden in your fantasy keeper league, it's a deep enough and long enough dynasty league that you're actually happy because he'll have more opportunity in LA.

The finalists for the Hobey Baker came out today and Tyler Madden isn’t Top Ten...I don’t know how anyone can justify his omission, he tore up college hockey this season. I guess the injury limiting him to 27 games killed his chances.

I didn't like the trade for the Canucks at the time (as it continued the offseason short term outlook at the expense of the long term) and it looks even worse now as I think the season is lost.

I guess he might have made it into the top 10 without the injury but with 27 games he isn't an obvious omission at all.

I don't follow college hockey that closely but isn't the favorite Jack Duggan anyways?
