Funny how Wright takes all the doom and gloom while there’s not a single peep about Beniers’ pathetic production in absurdly favourable usage while being considerably older.
This comment has aged well.

Since this post, Beniers leads the Kraken in scoring with 3 goals 8 points in 8 games, with all of them coming at even strength.

Beniers:
8gp 3g 8p +3
13 SOG

Wright
8gp 0g 0p -4
5 SOG

Wright needs to find ways get shots on net. He's got a deadly release but 11 shots in 14 games isn't gonna cut it. He'd have to shoot 20% just to score 12 goals in an 82 game season if he keeps that pace.

It is near-unbelievable that anybody could deserve those OZ and PP1 minutes and produce so little in today’s NHL. If he’s given the chance, there’s a decent chance that by the end of the season Wright is Seattle’s top C going forward. Kid is 20 years old - maybe everyone should wait to see what he can do with 18+ minutes of premium OZ and PP1 usage in a couple years before drawing conclusions on what he can ultimately become.
There's a reason Seattle gives Beniers so much ice time. He's already a responsible defensive center and very clearly has the skills to produce.

I think and hope that Wright will be a good player, but even if he can find a way to match Beniers offensively, he'd still be at least 1-2 tiers behind him. They aren't comparable IMO. Beniers is tracking to become a stud 60-70+ point selke caliber center ala Nico Hischier. Wright could become a 30+30 scoring center if he can find a way to start getting more pucks to the net, but he's never gonna have Beniers all around ability.

The problem with Wright has been to find linemates that he messes with, thusfar it hasn't happeneed a whole lot! Bylsma initially put him with McCann and Eberle and it worked somwhat but then changed gears and put him with Bjorkstrand and Tolvanen...Everything in Sports and especially hockey is about Chemistry some lines/teams have it and others struggle to find it

9 points in last 8 games. What happened to all the haters?
He's looked much more confident recently, but he's also got 6 goals on 14 shots in that span.

He's better than he showed earlier in the year, but let's not pretend like he's going to score anywhere near this recent rate any time soon.

He's got 7g 11p in 26 games on the season while shooting 27%. If he can increase his shot volume, he could get to ~15-20 goals and ~35 points.

It's good to see him progressing, but he needs to stay focused on improving. It seems as if every time he takes a step forward, he takes a half step back. I still see him as someone with 30+30 potential, he just needs to be willing to keep putting the work in.

I think Bylsma should start trusting him with a little more ice time. He has been averaging only 12:49 minutes. With how good he has been recently, reward him and let him grow in confidence.
It’s smart how he’s being developed. Ice time is earned and he’s eating more minutes and showing the results of that by putting up points while still playing smart defensively and getting to spots early to support his teammates. He will forever be compared to the other high picks from his draft. Nice to see him up there with those other guys. Lots of runway left to develop too.

Three current NHLers have 18% career shooting percentage. Wright has shot each of his 3 NHL seasons at over 25%. He’s at 27% this season. He’s a dangerous shooter and might be the most accurate ever.

The players named are outright laughable. They have promise, sure, but why greater than or even close to Wright who’s doing more at the top level right now? The only one even worth mentioning is Hutson, whose waterbug tendencies will quickly lose their shine as the lack of positive results pile up, and perhaps Mintyukov. Listing guys like Chesley or Beck at this point is truly the definition of ludicrous.
The point that it is way too early to tell is a good one and of course it is, but I think people are underrating Mintyukov. He's been playing on a bad team and in this his second season in primarily a defensive role so his boxcar stats and +/- don't look impressive, but I think he's the early leader for the 2022 steal of the first round. It follows that I don't think it is correct that nobody drafted after him has clearly eclipsed Wright so far.

That being said, it is a side issue. Wright is doing alright for where he was drafted and still could become really, really good.

This is a ridiculous comment. He played single digit games in his first two seasons, with 42 career games.

He shot at 13.8% in 58 games in the AHL last season. He's a good shooter, but he's nowhere close to the most accurate shooter in NHL history lol.

He does have a great wrist shot, but let's see him get at least five full seasons under his belt with that kind of shooting percentage before we start talking about him in a historical context.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up the top shooting percentage leaders of all time and as you can see from this list, they require a minimum of 200 career goals.

Few forwards on the Kraken get a lot of ice time. He's playing with Bjorkstrand and Tolvanen who are good players. He's in a good spot to develop without being force-fed or pressured to do too much.

Which is the wise way to develop guys. Giving top picks cherry minutes without their needing to be responsible defensively can see regression in development, when the expectation of defensive play is insisted upon.
