23 points in 56 games in his first AHL season. Does he project as top six eventually? Sounds like he'll probably need at least one more AHL season.

I think he's a dark horse to make the Oilers next year. He was very impressive in camp and preseason in his 2 years since being drafted (I believe he got 3 points in 4 preseason games in 2018) and he's always been the kind of player to do better against higher competition.

I don't know if he has top-6 upside, but I think he can be a real good 2-way 3C in the near future.

McLeod has been loaned to Zug of the NLA. Be interesting to see what kind of role he gets over there

Awesome, that puts us up to 7 players in Europe this year which I clearly think is the obvious right call given the disaster that is the USA right now.

Great second season so far for Mcleod.
22GP 11 goals 11 assists for 22pts
1st in the league in +/-
6th in points
5th in goals

Big fast center who has always excelled defensively . Nice to see the offensive breakthrough.
Hattrick in his game last night
11 pts in 15 games in Swiss league too!

21, super fast and versatile. I don't think he'll be a top 6 player but can be a great (and cheap) bottom 6 guy for years!

Could be another Grabner type player. Mostly a good 3rd line player who can fill it top 6 if need be. Super fast, not the best hands or shot and still plays a perimeter type game. But overall just gets its done

I wouldn't say he plays a perimeter game anymore. That was true last season or two.

You also underrate his hands too but his shot is still meh. I would project him to be a 30-40pt NHL 3C at this point.

The reality is players have to destroy the AHL to be a true impact player in the NHL. Guys like Matt Luff are almost AHL superstars and hard to contain in the AHL but are basically replacement level in the NHL. I looked up the last few years top-20 AHL scorers and you will only see maybe 1-2 NHLers from that list. McLeod has NHL size and skating... much like his brother. He doesn't have the same grit but IMO has better puck skills.

I found it interesting the Reign went with power vs. power match against the Condors. Byfield vs. McLeod. McLeod won that battle all night but he's also three years old. Byfield is no scrub... he's going to be Barkov 2.0

Agreed on all accounts. I see him topping out as a good 2-way middle 6er who can play centre or wing. His hands as you mentioned are actually good, but his shot is certainly not that of a sniper.

Been tearing it up as the #1C on the Condors, glad to see him getting his shot.

Grabner has or had limited hockey iq. McLeod has tons of it

Is Ryan as good as Mike? Not right now, can he be? Absolutely!
I've seen both players play quite a bit, and I think Mike is easily further along as a player but Ryan is further along than Mike was at his age

Yup. Take his numbers with a grain of salt, because the AHL is a bit watered down due to taxi squads, but the knock on Ryan was always his offense, and he's a point per game player in the AHL this year. Mike never even sniffed that.

I said when he was drafted he had 2C upside. I have my fingers crossed he can turn into a Jordan Staal Pens-era 3C for us.

Great size, great skater, great skillset. Has all the tools to be a top6 Center in the NHL. Did he get any tougher though? Think that would be important for him to stick. Has always been incredibly soft for his size.

thought the same about his brother, but he's actually a crasher+banger. I know brothers hate being compared to each other, but you'd have to think he can play a similar game with the extra 10-20 lbs.

Mike was pretty soft at first but as he gained confidence he started to bang and crash way more. Maybe its him realizing what he needs to do to stick in the NHL or maybe a confidence thing. Its weird that Ryan would not have a bit of grit to his game , he is a pretty big kid.

McLeod's been carrying the puck a LOT more this year. They're kind of treating him like McDavid ultralite down there - give it to McLeod in the D-Zone, he attacks with speed and gains the zone, good things happen from there

he's also really improved his finishing
