Bob has him at 22nd. He's still getting talked about as a first rounder.
He isn't the most engaged player and hasn't really produced at a high-end level. He's fine for the late first though, although, I probably wouldn't take him there.
Excited Oilers took him!! Anyone have a good scouting report on him and why he dropped?
Why?He's not a player I would consider drafting at the position he was ranked at.
Kid’s had a heck of a camp for the Oilers and most likely earned an ELC, if not a roster spot. Very strong up arrows.
Agreed, I'd say he actually has a chance to make the opening night roster.Surpassing all expectations. What a gem he’s been for us, so impressive this camp and preseason.
He dropped 10 positions, not really anything major.
Dropping from 172 to 182 is nothing major.
Dropping from 1 to 10 is major.
Conext is everything.
Seems pretty creative. Reminds me of rookie RNH. Good vision, passing but not a great shot.I understand he displayed good defensive abilities, how was his offence ? Creativity and so on ? Thanks

This guy is looking like a complete steal from the 2nd round. A part of me hopes he makes it for the whole year because it's been a while since a 2nd round pick made the NHL straight from the draft (and played the whole year) and was not an over-ager. I think Ryan O'Rielly was the last one.
I doubt he will make opening day roster just due to the amount of contracts the Oilers have already but I'm rooting for it. They would probably have to place Caggiula on waivers which I have no issues with.I’m not sure he will last the year if he does start with the team but he’s been a heck of a find. Didn’t look overwhelmed at all last night.
Unless you are going to give a kid legitimate top 9 minutes, don't keep him up. I believe that should hold true for pretty much any player who hasn't had a year of AHL experience. You don't develop players by giving them less than 10 minutes a game at 5v5.I doubt he will make opening day roster just due to the amount of contracts the Oilers have already but I'm rooting for it. RNH - McDavid - Rattie
Lucic - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Khaira - Strome - Puljujarvi
McLeod - Brodziak - Rieder
Extras: Kassian, Aberg
I think the above lineup gives the Oilers the best chance to succeed next season. A lot of speed, skill, youth, and enthusiasm mixed with veterans. McLellan will probably mash up the lines but as long as McLeod plays against weaker competition, he should be good.

He's not above the CHL level. You start draining the pool you are just changing the problem. Players will end up less ready because they don't play as good competition. It helps the younger guys like Byfield to play against someone like McLeod, and McLeod benefitted by getting the same challenges when he was 16 and 17.IMO this is the perfect reason that the AHL should allow one U-20 spot per team. McLeod would learn a lot more playing 2C minutes in the AHL than spending another year in Mississauga.
