Plenty of people had Snuggerud over Savoie.
Please feel free to post those many people. Few is 3 so 5 links will work?

Oh and when you say many we are talking scouts right?

Every mock draft I could find, or scouting report had Savoie over Snuggarud except Button.

McKenzie had Savoie at 9 and Snug at 17
Sportsnet had Savoie at 9 and Snug at 16
MyNHLDraft had Savoie at 9 and Snug at 16
NHL consensus poll from Scouts had Savoie at 6 and Snug at 24
The Hockey News had Savoie at 9 and Snug at 17
The Hockey Writers had Savoie at 6 and Snug at 26

I can keep going? I mean its not even close.

Just because he has a bit of a dip in production in his D+1 year does not mean he can't be a top line player. He still has that potential.
Absolutely. No one is saying any different. Thats just not the obvious path so far. People are just acknowledging that.

I had Gauthier and Snuggerud at 9 & 16. I think their draft positions balances it out to where I’m correct
Both of those guys are 6' 2".

We leave those guys for the teams who have no idea what they're doing.

The proof is in the pudding.

Or the team wants to get a bunch of skill in the fold, then move on to the intangibles.

I mean they had no choice on taking Gauthier, as he went 5th. Snuggerud went 22nd, but at least they took a C option. Hell, the Sabres could swap the two in a couple of years.

I don’t look at size for my options on Sabres picks btw. I look at availability and then best fit. Dave’s kid was there for me at 16 because we had enough C prospects, and a grinding winger worked.

I also had Mironischenko at our 1st pick, but his health issues caused him to slide so I had him with the Florida pick eventually. But he went before that. I also had Lindgren in that same area, and we got him in the 4th round.

Savoie was the pick and I was thrilled at the time. Still am. Size aside, the kid had a dynamic that not many can pull off. I have zero worries about him and developing into a special if not elite player.
He has a drive and determination that will carry him over time. I'm excited at his prospects and what that will mean to my viewing pleasure in the future. Talented kid.

I wanted Nazar at 9 and Snuggerud through the middlepick. Even I thought Snuggerud in the top 10 would have been a reach.

I think he was referring to posters, not draftniks.

I never did a personal mock ranking or anything, but my favorite prospects were:
- Gauthier
- Kasper
- Nazar
- McGroarty
- Snuggerud

I was really hoping to snag 2 of these guys with our first two picks, so while I didn't necessarily have Snuggerud rated as higher prospect, I was scared off by Savoie's size and injury history.

I thought Gaucher, Kulich, and Ohgren were very intriguing but hadn't really watched as much of them, and I was dead set on getting Chesley with our late first or early second.

In summary I would have taken one of my favorites over Savoie, but I'm still thrilled with the pick as the skill and speed was always obvious.

I didn’t love or hate Savoie. I hated Kemell and was lukewarm on lekkeriamki. I figured Gauthier and Kasper were gone. I favored Mintyukov with that pick at 8. Would have taken Ohgren at 16, but Snugs was right there. Actually, if committed to a forward at 8, it would have been Ohgren for me, and Snugs at 16. Kulich, Beck, and Firkus would have been my guys at 28.

Is Savoie eligible to play in Rochester at all next year? Or bc of CHL rules is it Buffalo or WHL?

I don't recall your sterling insights in the draft threads prognosticating who's going where, giving anyone your opinions on junior players strengths / weaknesses so I guess you're using the Imperial We
"We" as in the Sabres

No need to apologize

If Savoies mom would have done her job 1 day earlier, he could be in Rochester next year

What about going over to play in one of the European leagues for a year? Seems kind of unusual, but if the Sabres don't want him in Junior next season it might be an interesting idea to get him experience against older guys.
