Teams do not trade recent draft picks before getting extended looks at them. trading a player from last draft is laughable. Rosen was a project and wont be considered to trade for probably two more years. Savoie is a non starter for at least 3.

Looks like Savoie has put together a very nice stretch of games. Moved into 3rd on the team in points (2 behind 2nd with 4 less games played) and is projecting nearly identical totals from last season in 1 less game. He keeps up his recent play and those totals will only increase.

I will admit off the bat I wasn't a fan of the pick but happy to see he's starting to turn it on. Will be more than happy to eat crow if the time comes.

Yea, I don't think he was going to continue shooting at such a low percentage. He was getting pucks on net at a higher rate than last season so eventually you have to think they'd start going in again.

And just like that the complainers are a little more quiet.
Complainers? Where? I hope he becomes the next McDavid! However, his performance so far this season doesn't say that he is on his way to being the next McDavid. It does say he is still a solid prospect. So based on what I see, I am willing to trade this valuable asset for another valuable asset that we need more. If anything, his improved play makes me more likely to trade him now for something we need more of. We have an excess of forward prospects and a dried up old hags womb of a dman pipeline. Need to inject some life into that thing, even if it is just a prospect for prospect trade.

20 games in from being drafted(when the concerns started) and coming off of a major shoulder injury and worrying? meh.

He has another year in the CHL still.

I'm not trading him. As he fills out and grows I expect him to become a Danny Briere. I'm never trading Savoie.

This dude making the squad next year?

The math is just not working for me right now. I question if he will even make it to the Sabres. I see him and maybe Rosen as very good trade chips (personally, I would hold on to Kulich and Oslund), to round out the roster in Buffalo. The problem right now is Savoie's value has probably gone down since the draft, so he's not the top prospect other teams will ask for, nor is he the guy to make the roster with those other players I mentioned knocking on the door, especially the ones playing in men's leagues. A huge development leap would need to occur.

I think one more year in juniors next year, and I doubt he even gets a sniff of 9 games unless something dramatically changes with his development.

For those wondering, he's centering Nash and Benson at the moment. That can change, Patrick will shuffle his lines if something isn't working or if a player has an injury.

Wasnt Geekie just playin gainst us?
Guess they burned a year of his ELC

Two assists so far tonight, only 5 minutes into the second period. His linemates Benson and McClennon both have goals as does defenseman Carson Lambos with them on the ice. He's really flying tonight.

Net drive off the left wing side results in him being tripped on his way to the net. His line rotates off and the Ice score on the ensuing powerplay.

Is on for the Ice 2-man advantage but doesn't register a point as Geekie pounds it home. They were all over PA.

Also, he and Benson tried to hook up for a Zegras-to-Milano type play with Benson lobbing one out from behind the net that Savoie tried to bunt into the net. His stick exploded.
