The surgery is a wildcard. It could have an impact, or it could be his healthy play. Not real easy to know

Here's what I found in terms of top 15 OHL/WHL guys that dropped in primary point production from DY to d+1. Some good players, more bad. Might be worth noting that Jarvis, Reinhart, and Draisaitl all had really high draft years, which makes a drop more understandable. Savoie not too far behind, but not quite with those 3. I'll have to find out 5v5 and total points.

Thanks for this. It helps show the dip -> bust correlation. Kind of think the shoulder is a bigger deal, but can't be quantified so I get it.

At least he'll have a lower food cost than Kassian, Brown and Virtanen.

Was surprised to see that Savoie's point totals this year seem to be way down.

Anyone know the reason?

Took this out of the Kulich thread and put it here. There is a bit of talk about it above. There is someone using InStat who did a nice breakdown, some bad luck might be part of it. I'm planning on watching the Ice game tonight in total - haven't really looked in like I did early last year when I was enjoying Savoie as a draft possible.

As a prospect I really liked what little I saw of Savoie in the prospects tournament. Specifically his wheels, as well as his faceoff ability.

I'm not sure he couldn't be ready for the bigs sooner rather than later. Primarily because of his skating. Sure, he'd need a half season maybe to adjust, but I'd rather have his wheels out there b4 a couple who come to mind on the current roster.

Also seem to remember Reinhart's numbers dropping after we drafted him.

Almost wonder if after some of these guys get drafted, whether other players get showcased b4 them.

Also thinking that maybe some of these drafted players are focusing more on getting their bodies ready for the NHL rather than focusing on their junior team in general. Especially after they've probably been given suggestions/directives by their NHL teams.

Reinhart talked about how the Sabres asked him to work on his strength and how it hurt his production - he was hitting the gym more and not as fresh for game action. We'll have to see. The sag in his production the last few weeks is certainly something to investigate. Puck drop is in about 20 minutes.

Must've know I'd be watching - his next shift, he wins a 50-50 behind the net, feeds Benson in front from right on the crease, then busts ass to come down into his own zone to intercept the play to turn it back up the ice. He's very engaged so far tonight.

Your his SabreMike. What plush animal will you start collecting in his honor?

Ha. Just posting what I'm seeing tonight.

Savoie stops hard on a LW drive, cuts to the middle AGAIN and nearly scores. That's a goal and three chances off his stick directly, and one off a play he created for the period. The Ice broadcast have pointed out that the Benson-Geekie-Savoie trio is new for tonight.

Savoie has a goal tonight. Also drove the net and got his stick slashed from his hands. No call.

I thought that was an even more impressive play than the goal honestly. The hard stop and then exploding back into the slot was pretty sweet.

They only gave up one chance - that first shift together wound up with a play at the Ice net that looked fairly dangerous - but they really got going as the period went along.

Savoie stretches the ice to find Benson at the Bronco blueline for another glorious chance.

Second PK pair is Savoie and Benson, they hook up on the rush for another great chance. Savoie looks like he's been shot out of a cannon tonight.
