C/RW Jonatan Berggren - Skelleftea, SWE JRs (2018, 33rd, DET)

Really glad to see he's doing so well. Wasn't optimistic that he'd develop well after missing the better part of the last two years, but he's setting the world on fire right now.

I asked this on the wings board but what do people think would be considered a really good season for him point wise over there at 20 years old? I think 40 points roughly in 50 games would show serious top 6 upside but dont really know for sure. I mean sure he could go point per game or higher but only about 5 players went roughly point per game in the entire league last year so that seems like a tall task for him

Great start for a guy whose missed a lot of development time though. Coulda been a first rounder in his draft year. A bunch ofhis points this year have been high end skill too, no real lucky bounces or anything which is good to see

Around 30+ points.

I remember when I was really into draft rankings, I had Berggren at 12 of his draft class. I find it funny that I thought I completely messed up after seeing his D+1 season. Its still very high, but he looks to be coming together.

Ehh, I remember people saying that if he had been a little bigger he'd have gone in the top 10.

Also can't really be down on his D+1. He was hurt for a lot of it.

I'm saying that most people had him in the 20-35 range, and I went way against the consensus because I liked him so much. He is clearly showing right now that he is ahead of the consensus rankings.

Not surprised at all by Berggren’s production. I had him as a top 20 prospect in his draft class. He’s had a tough run with injuries but has always been immensely talented. He should be one of the best forwards in the SHL all year and make an impact in Detroit for the 21-22 season.

I think in my final ranking had him around 10 or so. He almost slipped to the Canucks. ALMOST. What a beauty i think this guy will turn out to be

Detroit is juiced to the gills with winger prospects. Realistically, I don't know that Fabbri makes it past this year's TDL.

Gonna be a super competitive position with Mantha/Bertuzzi/Zadina/Raymond/Rasmussen/Berggren all in the mix in 21-22.

Also look at the difference in average ice time between scoring leader

He has one more game played than the leader I believe but yeah with a difference of 10 mins of ice time per game its the equivalent of 80 more minutes or so on the ice. Hopefully Berggrens ice time goes up a bit (it has lately) given how much hes producing

I'm pretty sure it was said somewhere that the wings are going to try to play Fabbri at the 2C this year. Will be interesting to see because like you said there's a logjam at the wings

They can try, but he's an abomination defensively. I don't expect it goes well.

If we can’t get elite centers, at least we have the possibility for a stacked group of wingers.

I had him pretty much written off as a future Wing with all the wingers weve drafted/already have and his back to back injured/bad seasons but this is changing my mind
