The fact Kostin is playing over Berggen after the Larkin injury says something about his place on the team. Kostin contributes nothing to the roster and his physicality isn't what people make it out to be.

There's definitely more going on than "roster depth" as some think. He had a good year in Detroit last year, so I'm wondering if he showed up to camp out of shape or some other attitude related issue that put him in the doghouse.

Why is he burried in the AHL?

Only Wings brass and maybe Berggren himself know the truth of it. He is definitely good enough to play in the NHL. Plus, Detroit is decent but not exactly a juggernaut of a team…
