C/RW Jonatan Berggren - Skelleftea, SWE JRs (2018, 33rd, DET)

I can't remember where it was or who said it, but I thought I read that there were scouts saying he would've been Top 10 if not for his size.

I’ll admit my list for the Leafs was:

K. Miller
Bokk
Berggren

And honestly I didn’t even know about Sandin. So I would’ve taken this kid :)

Nice to see he’s rolling finally!

I have a feeling he's going to tear this tournament up.

What do you guys think will be Berggren's route to the NHL? Is it best to let him stay another year in Sweden next season, or bring him to GR if he doesn't make Detroit?

That contract really doesnt have any impact regarding the point of time he heads over the pond.
That contract is about: in case Berggren stays in Sweden until 2022, he'll play for Skelleftea.
And is there any evidence he would like to head there before it runs out? To get paid 75k p/y in the AHL? Point was it isn't as simple as Detroit "bringing him over" whenever they wish because he almost certainly won't sign to play in the AHL under those circumstances.

Two season ending injuries back to back? This is going to be a tough one to recover from

This is quite concerning now.

Really hope he can recover and get back up to speed but this has become a troubling theme now.

He is flying a bit under the radar due to his injuries, but he just scored the 1st goal of the new SHL season and registered an assist! Let's hope he has a monster season, after that he should be ready to enter the AHL.

Hopefully he can keep getting into the tougher areas of the ice like on this goal, it's been the biggest knock on his game other than his health.

Hes good when healthy and could be one of those early second rounders who really under the radar helps Detroits rebuild if he pans out. He'll go under the radar compared to the Seider, Zadinas and this years pick but could be a legit top 6 NHLer on a cheap contract in 3 years.

Is Nyquist a good comparison for him? Sure looked like him in that clip.
I've heard people compare him to Viktor Arvidsson and I think that sounds like a pretty reasonable comparison. Although Berggren is slightly taller than Arvidsson.

After missing lots of time in the past two seasons due to major injuries, this is exactly the kind of start he needed to prove he still has top 6 upside. Very excited about this! Stay healthy kid.
