Every player dragging Byfield down scored today... And he still didn't get a point again lol

Maybe QB should be in the AHL? But the Kings' are winning regardless.

They've made it very clear he's staying in the NHL because the shortcuts he was able to take in the AHL are what is causing an adjustment period now.

It's not even worth me going over the metrics again because it's apparent what's happening to anyone who is watching him in good faith and not just trolling for negativity.

No need to be a smart ass. As a Canadian, I want the kid to succeed.

He's growing and learning a little more every game and everyone agrees it's only a matter of time before the production bursts through. It was a similar tough stretch at previous levels. People are upset he's not raining points yet and I get it, but everyone reasonable already knew he was gonna take some time--now add in covid year time lost without juniors, a broken ankle, and actual covid, and he's behind the already slower path.

It's not going to stop the usual "I'm actually interested in Kings prospects" folks from rooting for his failure, but 'success' isn't just production, it's growth.

That's fair.

I just want the kid to pop and I (like many) am getting impatient. I just need to remember he is only 19 - he's been around so long, I forget he's not older.

Still, I'd sure love to see a goal or an assist now and then.

I get it, and so do we.

The amount of opportunities that aren't getting finished around him is just too damn high.

might as well. already burned a year off his ELC

They did burn it but the accrued season towards UFA is 40 games on the roster and you can argue that one is more important. If he stays the rest of the season, this will count as year 1 of 7.

Personally, I would have kept Byfield in the AHL until he dominates that league offensively for half a season at the very least.

Agreed I'm glad the Ducks didn't leave McTavish in (I know different draft years but I think they are at a similar stage of player right now) I want him to dominate at least half season (at, around or over PPG) before NHL time.

That's good to here.

In a roundabout way, it is

The other factor is keep in mind he's not getting PP time either. Kings brass seems to not want 'easy points' for any of the kids. Other than Arvidsson who left the game early and Lizotte who PKs only, Byfield was the only forward today who didn't get PP time (and never does).

I have my own feelings about it of course and I think I've been pretty clear about how I feel about org development now but that alone tells me they're more focused on 'process' 5v5 vs. anything else right now.

LAF is also getting NO PP time. It really hurts a players stats - when compared to players who binge on assists / points during a power play.

He wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire in the AHL either so I’m not sure why the Kings are letting him play minimal minutes and at times struggling in the NHL instead of learning the pro game in an environment that’s more suitable to him right now instead.
Maybe the coaches think it’s more suitable to be learning in the nhl. You clearly know better though.

keep waiting... it's going to be a rough few years, if he ever turns the corner
took Jack Hughes till his 3rd season to break out
and yeah patience should be used with all prospects '
It isnt what Byfield is right now
its what he can become as a whole package as he develops
keyword is develop
