LMAO

Not even 10 minutes in.

I'll take apologies in beers, thanks.

Tell me you don't see an instant difference with the change in lines and I'll show you a liar.
I'd look good against the effort Anaheim just put out. But it was a nice pass from the wall for sure.

It's not even about the assist, it's about literally everything else. And even so, instantly, Byfield/Grundstrom had the best period of any King relative to team, just like before the split.

I mean, that WAS the complaint right?

Anyway I was half joking, it's just one period, but the fact that QB picked up right where he left off prior to the stupidity is very telling, especially vs. a quality opponent.

He looks good out there

Quality opponent is stretching things though, my man. The Ducks have a .360 win percentage against teams with a winning record this season. They’re average at the very best and still rebuilding

That's like us, so I guess something has to give eh

You know the dishonesty level is high when a forum that has spent 15 years shit talking Dustin Brown is running to his defense.

Making generalizations like this when you don't even know what the mere handful of people that you're referring to have been saying about Brown for 15 years is what's dishonest. FYI, this is just the latest of many times that I've defended him over the last decade. It's wrong of you to make assumptions.
One's had 20 years to figure it out. The other has had 10. Yet all the blame is falling at the feet of the teenager.

No one is putting all of the blame on Byfield. What's happening is that you're putting very little of it on him, being disagreed with and overreacting. I don't think that you realize how overly defensive and aggressive you tend to get when people challenge your opinions on the Kings.

Just great.
Athanasiou a healthy scratch (sorry, did like him last season)

4-1 win. :thumbu:

We dont have to plan the parade just yet but the madness that an 19 year old isnt scoring. A rookie who is trying to find his way in the NHL.

12 GP…the horror.

Stopping and making a pass along the boards for his 3rd point in 18 games is what separates him? Ok.

He got an assist! Gundestrom had a nice goal and a huge hit

I’ve never seen a player so heavily defended with such poor production but if you guys are happy with 3pts in 18 games and looking pretty bad in most games then go for it! One less team to worry about.
He looked like he belonged last night. What do you mean one less team to worry about?
Why dont you like Byfield? Hes going to be a good player and has definitely shown flashes.

Byfield had his best or second best game since being called up. He had jump in the offensive zone including the very nice play that lead to the first goal, and other than one mistake where he was flat footed at the blueline looked competent in the defensive zone.

He has yet to string together two good games in a row so hopefully that comes tonight. Sometimes it only takes one play to get a young player going.

I agree with you on the first part, I think a lot of people kind of see what they want to see. But the second part is ridiculous, he is a very skilled kid with good size that is still very young and raw. He also wasn't handled very well last year and is learning on the job, which should have happened last year. To completely write-off a kid this skilled is very premature.

one year from now this thread and all the hand wringing about byfield will seem hilarious.

just like all the jack hughes stuff is now.

the processing and confidence are going to catch up to the size/speed/skill really soon folks.

It’s funny to see how some people get their panties all twisted in a bunch after Byfield plays well. These same pricks would be in here celebrating if he didn’t have a great game.

The real shame is that we can't talk honestly about prospects without having an agenda one way or the other. People can insult your wife, girlfriend, or mother but don't dare say a bad word against a prospect on your team.

Regarding Byfield last night - he made two nice plays; one that resulted in a goal and one that just missed (both were to Grundstrom). It is worth noting, however, that Mahura and Benoit were on the ice for the goal and it was AHL level defense from both of them. Regardless, I'm sure his confidence went up a notch as a result of a pretty solid game.

Every time I click "show ignored comment" I immediately regret clicking "show ignored comment"

Every time.

I’ve never not liked Byfield, I’ve said he’s very likely to be a 1st liner. That doesn’t mean you can’t comment on his flaws and I’ve never seen a player be so aggressively defended with so little going on so far. He’s simply not NHL and that’s fine. The guy gets one okay assist though and suddenly that’s “proof” he should have gone 1st overall

I’ve never once wrote off the kid. It’s just weird seeing certain posters blame everything on outside factors and completely ignoring he just hasn’t looked ready most of the season.

“Heavily defended”
“Poor production”

20 NHL games or so under his belt.
