1 point in 6 AHL games. I don’t claim to have watched him this year, but it’s not great production for a d+2 players. I’ve always been lower on him than most, but I’ll never root against a player. I hope he can turn it around. He can be a real nice player for the Kings with some nice development
In preseason he had kind of a bull in a china shop mentality. Just a little lanky and unrefined but you could see what hes capable of with his speed and his reach. He can break up plays really well in any zone and has really good vision offensively but hasnt flashed much goal scoring touch. Pass first kind of guy. He broke his ankle late in the preseason going full speed into a corner but otherwise would be in the NHL in a bottom six role right now.1 point in 6 AHL games. I dont remember fully but I do remember thinking it wasnt a dirty hit and more on Byfield for how he went into the corner but maybe youre right. Either way its a minor detail and hed have at least had a couple of games in the NHL so far this season. He actually slowed down once he got to the corner and was injured by a Christian Fletcher hit. If not for that, he surely would've started the season in the NHL, but I wouldn't rule out that he might've been sent down by now to work on using his size (especially to absorb hits from grown men) and build confidence. After all, we thought that Tkachev would still be in the NHL right now, too.

Did I miss something? Probably just a small mistake, but Byfield was born in Aug, 2002., L. Hughes Sep, 2003.It's a fair point, as guys like Power, Beniers, Eklund, K Johnson, and Luke Hughes from the last draft are all only 60-90 days younger than Byfield. Sanderson is the same. Not so much a big plus over a guy like Drysdale (April), but the late 01's like Lafreniere. Lundell and Rossi definitely had a bit of an advantage of age in their draft year.

Yeah, I don't get it, either, and that was my point. He (Tkachev) went from looking like a top-6 lock in the preseason to being sent down after only 4 regular season games. You just never know, especially with the Kings. He should be, but it's the Kings, so he isn't. Unless four games was enough to evaluate him in totality.
Ah, sorry - saw the Sept birthday and forgot L Hughes is actually a year younger than Power, Beniers, Eklund etc. Good catch.Did I miss something? Probably just a small mistake, but Byfield was born in Aug, 2002., L. Hughes Sep, 2003.
Not every high pick works out. Some take longer to reach their best, and other just kind of fizzle out and don’t amoun5 to mućh.1 point in 6 AHL games. He's 19...and he "should have at least 25 goals this season in the NHL" ?!?
The guy taken before him has 19 goals, total, over 2 seasons.
The guys taken 1st and 2nd overall the year before have 26, and 24 goals, respectively, over 3 seasons.
The guys taken 1st and 2nd overall the year before that (2018) have yet to score 25 goals in a season.

Bruh, you just responded to one of the most obviously sarcastic comments I've ever seen.
If he's in the A, has there been any rumblings for him to join the Olympics?Hopefully he gets in some NHL games soon. and perhaps then some games with Team Canada at the WHC in May. (if we get a tournament)

Large frame and good skating should be intriguing for the large ice.
Ok, that makes sense, thank youironically enough the Olympics are on NHL sized rinks. just no NHL players. I don't believe players in the AHL on two NHL contracts are eligible to play the Olympics. If he were eligible he'd be a fine edition. So, it looks as though if he is to play any international games this year, it will be with the men's team in May.

3 game goal streak - 3 goals, 1 assists, +3, 11 shots in those 3 games. Seems like he’s heating up - how’s he looked for Reign fans?
Last year he started slow with 1 goal, 5 assists, -14 through his first 14 games, then 7 goals, 7 assists, +5 in his remaining 18 games. Got hot and stayed hot, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same this year.
He looks like a guy who can do whatever the hell he wants when he wills it, but he's just starting to understand his toolset, particularly how to use his size, vs. adults. Definitely still inconsistent, but flashes of Malkin-esque dominance, and his shift-to-shifts aren't nearly so up and down.
I think he will develop into an Evander Kane type player maybe a little better but not have that off the ice dumbass issues. He doesn't have the offensive IQ of someone like Malkin. I think he develops into a play style like Kane but I also know he has sky high potential. To be honest I just don't trust the Kings development team very much.....

They played similar games in Juniors imo. Yes I know they play different positions I said play style they both scored a lot of their points off the rush in Juniors and were stronger, faster and more skilled than most they played against.Different positions, different playstyle, I don't see the Kane comparisons at all
