Reminds me of Nathan Horton as a prospect.
Horton was a W who didn't have nearly the production of Patrick.
I'm really high on the kid. I'd take him over Matthews and probably Eichel as well.

I don't think he's in the same tier. If he was born a week earlier he'd be in the 2016 draft and only a few months younger than dubois. I'd say if he was in the 2016 draft he'd fight for the 4 spot with dubois and tkachuk but being a natural center may push him over puljujarvi.
Matthews and eichel are special talents so it's no insult to Patrick that I don't think he's the same level as them.

If Matthews was a week younger he'd be in the 2015 draft and probably 3rd or 4th overall. If Patrick's game continues developing at same pace (scores say 130+pts next season) he definitely needs to be in the elite No.1 overall category like Tavares, Stamkos, Kane. Both Patrick and Matthews are the "old farts" of their draft so they better be outperforming their peers.
Like what I have seen at the Mem cup. Limited viewings. Would he go 1st round this year? .. Likely would have a shot.
Who goes 3rd in this scenario?
Everybody was gaga over Dylan Strome last season. Matthews last year didn't have the eye-popping numbers but I would have picked him 3rd. I didn't care for Strome, Marner, etc. at all. IMO at the time was the 2015 was a bit overrated and still is.
McDavid was the sure bet at #1
but it was a toss up if it was Matthews and Eichel. Matthews has outproduced him at every level and likely has a better 2-way game. Sure some may go for Eichel still but I'd say it's 50/50 at best as to who would go #2 in that draft.
Both Eichel and Matthews are above Patrick though imo.

Matthews was viewed as the best prospect to have left the USNDP, he absolutely would of challenged Eichel, Eichel probably goes ahead on most boards though. But considering the situations, many would take into account what they did at the USNDP.No way. If Matthews was eligible for the 2015 (a week younger) then Eichel would still be picked over him. Eichel destroyed the NCAA against much older players. Matthews last year wasn't even playing against men. We're not comparing THIS years Matthews to last year's Eichel - because we are focusing on the 2015 draft.
When did Eichel play in Switzerland? Think he's going off IIHF events and USNDP, which is a sizeable example. When did Matthews play in the NCAA?
There would be strong claims for Winnipeg to draft him. He'd be in the discussion with Laine. If Patrick was in this draft, he'd probably be in the 3-4 range with Puljujarvi. Wouldn't be above Laine and Matthews.

20%, although Patrick could be challenged by Liljegren and high quality RHD are as rare as big #1 it seems considering the demand for him. If Leafs, Oilers, and a couple others end up with #1 I could easily see him being the pick. I think its way too early to call out favorites to finish last. But I wouldn't say the Canucks, Benning (or mainly in my belief Aquellini) doesn't seem in favour of a rebuild and Sedins are good enough to keep you out of last barring a collapse.Vancouver may have the best chance to draft Nolan Patrick in 2017 unless they make some serious upgrades
Who do you think needs Nolan the most? Leafs have Matthews, Oilers have McDavid, Sabres have Eichel.
