The size thing is so overblown. He doesn't look tiny on the ice at all, he looks just like Yzerman, Sakic, Datsyuk, or Stamkos, guys who are slightly shorter than average. He'll be 5'11" 180 at the very minimum, which is fine for a player whose game doesn't rely at all on being stronger or heavier than other players.

Height really isn't the question here, I don't understand why people find that hard to understand. It's weight, which is more about how his frame will handle weight as he grows than anything else. Some people are just meant to be skinnier, which is generally worse for the sport of hockey. No biggie, hardly predictable, but he's nowhere near built like Stamkos. It's just a discussion point, not overblown at all.

You look at the kids that come into the NHL at 18... RNH had a similar build to Marner. Kane also being the other. Marner doesn't shy away from giving hits or taking hits but he is very difficult to hit. Kane made it thru his first season without any injuries due to the fact was hard to hit and still is. RNH's body couldn't handle the grind for the first couple of years he also took a beating.

My only worry with Marner is like a lot of kids that come from junior is when trying to pull moves that work 99% of the time on junior Dmen but will get him eaten alive at the NHL level.

As a Habs fan, I hope the Leafs DOES NOT pick him with their pick. I think they should pick Crouse! :)

Marner had an interview recently with TSN 1050 and he made a point of saying he's 5'11. Not sure if he thinks it will help his draft stock or he wanted to set the record straight.

Because he isn't surrounded by NHLers.

Marner seems to me like a Giroux clone from what I have seen of him. Same size, creativity and competitiveness. You can't pass that up at #5 if your Carolina. No effing way.

Can't see them besting the Soo

Or Erie. Or Oshawa, or Barrie, or even North Bay.
But that's fine, because this is a transition year.
Hopefully Marner is back to lead the Knights next year along with Dvorak. Minus the Domi sideshow.

The Leafs may end up taking Strome at 4 if the standings mirror the draft order, and that's a great pick. No way Marner should last past #5 though.

Good to see Marner play some centre. I do want Dylan Strome. But if we get bumped down or anything, good to know Marner is there.

I'd be more excited about Marner if he was a sure thing to play centre in the NHL.

That's where you're wrong though. Marner doesn't beat dmans with dekes and flashy stuff at all. He's not beating players with his skill alone. He does have great hands, good skating and all of that, but that's his hockey IQ and offensive instincts that beat everyone on the ice. I don't see anything in his game that doesn't translate.

I really hope that the standings stay as they are right now, each of the top 5 teams will walk away happy. Marner is an incredible player and likely going to be a center in the NHL.

He should play center next year @ London but I don't even think he goes back to the OHL if he can play like this at training camp.

We have Mark Hunter and IMO he will more than likely make this pick. I don't think we miss out on Marner if he's on the board at #4/#5. I like Strome because of his size but I think Marner is the better talent and now he's even being showcased at center.
