While Marner is really good, he's just not what Oilers need at all. I couldn't see us taking him in any situation.

Depending on what people think the gap is between Hanifin vs Provorov/Werenski, Edmonton could probably benefit quite a bit from trading down 2-3 spots. I'd imagine they could get a very good price for doing so, and still add a top top D prospect like Provorov.

Or they could just draft Hanifin. Like you said though, I'd be surprised to see them take Marner, unless they have a big trade lined up to move one of their other forwards for a Dman.

Them sitting at 4 makes things interesting. (after lotto and McDavid + Eichel + Hanifin gone)

I think Strome fits in nice over there, but they may be going for something right now (Strome needs seasoning, another Jr. year IMO).

4th(Marner/Strome) + (depending on NHLer and pick location)
for
Young NHL ready player + 7-9th(Werenski/Provorov/Crouse)

I don't think they'd want Strome either.. he's pretty similar to what they have in Draisaitl.. I think Edmonton is better off trading down and targeting Provorov or Crouse, or maybe Werenski.

Yeah you guys don't need an intelligent, hardworking, two way elite offensive forward. lack of size isn't the problem with the oilers.. Only way the oilers would be stupid is by passing on hanafin imo.

This guy could be left for the Oilers to pick up.

Oilers fans won't hear the end of it if we take him. Oilers fans won't here the end of it if we don't.

Where does Marner play next year? I guess it depends on the team that drafts him but do you guys see any scenario where he returns to Junior?

I really want Marner, hes insane but Strome and Hanifin just fill bigger needs for the Leafs

The problem with this is the fact that the Leafs' needs will be different in 2-5 years time when the above three are starting to make headway in the league...take the best player and don't look back.

5th point for Marner tonight. Nice dive to poke-check the puck on the stick of Dvorak who puts it in.

EDIT : He just scored.

2g 4a right now.

If Edmonton picks 3rd, he goes 4th, if anyone else who can pick 3rd at this point does, he's gone 3rd overall.
