Well he's already 17 so odds are he's probably reached his peak physical maturity and won't improve over the summer. I guess the NHL just is't in the cards for him, poor guy.

What are you trying to say, did I say he wouldn't grow? I'm saying if he doesn't put on enough weight in the summer he'll be back in junior like Ehlers despite being too good for juniors.

Would be unreal if he goes to Arizona... they could have an all London line with Domi, Dvorak, and Marner. How often is it that three star players from the same junior team get to play for the same team in the NHL?

something i just noticed in pronmans mock on espn.

A side note here: If Edmonton falls to third, I've heard it's heavily considering Mitch Marner and not the player who I've projected to the Coyotes.

that make for some interesting times on hfboards.

edit: hanifin is the projected coyotes pick. pronman is hinting hes heard that edmonton would pass on a potential franchise D for marner.

Sounds like something Oilers management would do, would help them tank for Austin.

Pronman is projecting that the Leafs draft Marner if they're picking 5th

5. Toronto Maple Leafs

Mitch Marner, RW, London (OHL)
Age: 17 | GP: 59 | G: 44 | A: 79

Marner's excellent play all season in the OHL has solidified his position as a top-six pick. The rumor across the industry has been Marner to Toronto, but I haven't been able to nail down if that's justified based on their draft board or a casual connection to the fact that his former London GM, Mark Hunter, is now running Toronto's draft.

I honestly don't see him getting past 4th. I really wish the Leafs finish 4th. Then I don't care who they take because they had the choice to pick Marner/Strome/Barzal/Provorov etc and made a decision.

People will be pissed but I am confident about Leafs scouting in top 10. They have made the smarter picks when everyone else hoped for someone else.

Paajarvi vs. Kadri, Rielly vs. Grigorenko, Ritchie vs. Nylander etc.

I'd take Kadri, Rielly, Nylander in hindsight despite wanting someone different at the draft.

nicolas roy. maybe there should be a thread for this mock? i dont know the rules of doing so because its behind a paywall though.

As long as the list/descriptions are not in one post then you can post it but you need to site the website as the source of the information.

I have a hard time seeing the Leafs draft two sub-6 feet forwards in the first round, especially considering we just drafted Nylander last year and just acquired Lepisic. That being said, I hope we draft Travis Konency with NSH's 1st .

This post could be equally pasted into the Strome & McDavid threads -

but for those watching the OHL scoring race

The Knights have 1 more game to play - and Marner is @ 124 pts.

The Otters have 3 more games to play - and Strome is @ 116 pts & McDavid is @ 112.

Erie actually has 4 games left. Mind you they are also locked in to their playoff slot so they aren't playing for anything. I wouldn't be surprised to see McDavid sit out the last game or two in preparation for the playoffs.

Why the worry about the scoring race? It'd be a hollow victory for Marner anyways.

Why so? I'm sure it would be big for him beating Strome not to mention everyone else in the OHL as a draft eligible player. He knows as well as everyone else McDavid would win it with more games being played (and still might) but being the best behind McDavid isn't too shabby.

Not to mention outscoring the vast majority of 1st OA forwards taken over the past decade.

Completely agree on all points. I've been surprised every draft since, except for the Gauthier pick which still has time to pan out but i was less than excited for obvious reasons that are evident (not amazing progress and low ceiling, still looking like a solid potentially useful player) but nevertheless whoever we pick this year I will support our scouts.

Also, I don't usually get emotionally invested in undrafted prospects and get pissed if a guy I liked wasn't taken cause theres no point in wasting the energy, what's done is done, just gotta be a good fan and support our boys.
