He's been a winger all year pretty much.

He hasn't played centre for a full game this year.

A post giving a run-down on his centre/wing history with London/Don Mills/Vaughan (last paragraph) that might be of interest to you: http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showpost.php?p=97825369&postcount=554

Thanks for the update guys. I like what I hear about him but as a Leaf fan, no point in taking him as we need a centre or defenseman.

I guess if we hold down 4th last we take Dylan Strome.

Where do you guys think Marner would have went in MacKinnon draft? I think he goes 2nd overall. MacKinnon has the size over him so he likely goes first but I don't think Barkov/Drouin are better than Marner.

He's better than Strome. Why take an inferior talent in the top 5? That's not smart.

Plus, the Leafs likely get another 2015 first from Phaneuf/Kessel trade at draft. Marner > Strome @ 4th. I have a feeling he might not even be there given his current play. In that case, Hanifin over Strome.

If we end up 5th, then Strome vs. Barzal.

I agree, he is better than Strome, not that Strome isn't any good, Marner is simply more talented. I think Marners size still scare people and whether he can stick at center, you don't have that worry with Strome, but his skating makes me a bit nervous.

Does MM make the NHL next year or go back to junior? how many points would this guy get next year?

as good as he maybe, his physical stature may dictate another year at the ohl http://hfboards.mandatory.com/images/smilies/ssst.gif
ok Mcdavid plays and does well at the NHL next year Eichel maybe as well but might struggle a year or 2 but I think will be a great player................... Marner may get any where between 100 and 150 points.... depends on who else is there to play with.

Marner should absolutely go back to OHL and dominate. Should be able to win OHL scoring title back to back

I think he's too far ahead of McDavid to be caught this season.

Plus it's not looking like he's slowing down. The gap could stay the same or increase if he ends well.

I suggested a few pages back could Marner catch Patty Kane's 145 pts....definitely believing he can now.

Building on this, Kane managed to jump right into the NHL and score 72 points on a pretty meh team. Marner is of similar stature and I'd imagine his build is similar to what Kane had when he was 18. Any chance Marner can jump right into the NHL and have success while he is still undersized/underdeveloped?

If Johnny Hockey can survive the NHl at 5'9 160 lbs, yea.... I'm sure Marner at 5'10 165 lbs can survive also.

It'd be bitter sweet if the Leafs picked 4 and McEichel and Marner were gone and we'd take Hanifin. I wonder how much GM's will buy into the Marner hype, he's making a case.

That's what I was alluding to. He's lacking some weight and although we've seen enough players do well even at a small stature, it's rare. I'd be cautious with an 18 year old Marner at the NHL level. You don't have the Lucic types hitting you in junior. Totally different ball game...or puck game I suppose.

I know that I'm late, but I'm officially on the MM bandwagon. Kid is a tremendous talent.

Me as well, jumped from 6 to 4 over the last few weeks for me. At the moment only McEichel and Hanifin are still above. Its amazing the quality of this draft. I personally think Marner and Strome would be in contention for 1st overall in every draft since Tavares, yet they are the 4th and 5th best prospect here.

Marner got 2G and 4A against a bad Saginaw team last night. Sometimes the point totals are mis-leading in junior. (Second assists are given out like free candy sometimes). Undrafted 20 year old Rupert also got 2G and 3A last night against the same team so you can see what I'm trying to say.

With all of that said, I will be surprised if Marner is NOT in the NHL next year.

If he doesn't physically mature over the summer I wouldn't be.
