Gonna be a heck of a player...really, really impressed with his vision and play making skills. Perhaps 5 years before he can be an impact NHLer, but I think he will be personally.

Yawn. Do you contribute anything except posts that are useless and full of jealousy/hate? I know you wish the Rags drafted Grigs with a middle first round pick, so you don't gotta be mad bra. Oh yeah what team are you a professional scout for again? Since you talk like your opinion is the end all be all to Grigorenko
Nah. Just as many question marks with Yakupov, Galchenyuk etc then there are with Grigorenko. And no, I wouldn't trade him for anyone else from the draft, the Sabres need a center and Grigs is the best one from the draft IMO. Gotta love Hf, if you have a differing opinion all the "expert" armchair scouts ridicule you if the prospect you like isn't from there team, pretty sad and reeks of jealousy.
There is absolutely nothing to be jealous about the Sabres.

Not in the slightest. You're just making assumptions. I've liked Grigorenko more dating back to mid way through last year, and I've continued to be impressed by him this year. There's no guarantee that either will for sure be better, but I prefer Grigorenko's game to Galchenyuk's
Have been a fan of him for years, I would say Grigorenko was the best Russian forward at the tournament, his points might not suggest that but he looked great the majority of the time he was on the puck.
Personally I think Grigorenko's defensive game has significantly improved and when he was on the puck he looked like a man among kids a lot of times in this tournament. I always felt his decision making offensively was his greatest aspect but it seems to have stalled/somewhat regressed, this maybe due to spending a few seasons in the CHL and having a lot of focus put on improving his defensive game. He still looked great offensively but I don't think he will ever reach that elite offensive game I expected of him. Continuing his development in Russia may have resulted in making him an ever better offensive player but his defensive game would not have been as good as it is now. Still he has a lot of potential and I definitely see him becoming at least a top 6 forward on an NHL team.
It's not our fault the team is located in Upstate New York compared to Midtown Manhattan.
Geez, Grigs is an exceptional talent at 12th overall - good thing we didn't take McIlrath at 10.

Darcy Regier chatted with Patrick Roy on Sunday and made it clear that he intends to bring Grigorenko to Buffalo for the duration of training camp (per Kathleen Lavoie). Not surprising.
And why should I be jealous of this?
I don't get it, they were drafted 2 years apart.

Not saying you're wrong but I thought I read a month or so ago that Regier said lock out or not hes staying in Quebec?

Both articles contradict each other.

January 7:
"(Patrick Roy: ) "I spoke this morning (Sunday) with Darcy Regier [Sabres GM], and Darcy Regier was clear. He wants to bring him to Buffalo for the whole training camp. Afterwards, they'll evaluate if Grigo is able to make the team or not."
It's obvious the Sabres' plans for Grigorenko changed in the last few weeks.

Good thing I'm not the one that accused other fanbases to be jealous of them.
Hope Grigs really impresses at camp so that Buffalo is forced to keep him. He's certainly not dominated the Q in every aspect, but the fact that Quebec could be severely weakened by his departure makes me want him to leave.... Yes I'll be that greedy Moose fan

Ruff likes rolling balanced lines, if he sticks after camp he'll have an opportunity to play with either Vanek or Pominville which could be very good for him. He won't be counted on to play large amounts of minutes either as Ruff likes keeping everyone fresh by limiting ice time.

Ah ok thanks. I figured there would be no way for him to play "bottom 6" as you have him playing, in a shortened rookie season.... So I figured it would be second line C or nothing... I guess it will come down to him and Ennis, unless there's really no one else to play down the middle for the Sabres this season.

If this kif can improve his first step a bit he could end up being an extremely effective player. His skillset and style reminds me a lot of Nikolai Zherdev.
Good god I hope not! If he tops out at 60 points that would be a colossal disappointment.

Zherdev, in his prime, was an extremely effective offensive player. He was a 60+ pt player on low scoring teams. Give him a bit more support and he's easily a PPG player.
The guy was a super skilled player. Hands, shot, vision, speed. If he was ever used effectively or if he could have figured out how to play both sides of the ice he would have been an extremely effective NHLer, as I expect Grigorenko to be.
Also, if Grigorenko ends up being a consistent 30+ goal, 60+ pt player, that wouldn't be bad at all. Not every prospect is Evgeni Malkin.
