So Grigorenko >>>>> Galchenyuk? Here are some points to ponder.

-Grigorenko played slightly better than Galchenyuk yet Gally had more points. Imagine if Gally would have played well.

-Galchenyuk had 3rd line minutes and played with Barber and Kuraly. Grigo was on the 1st/2nd line with Slepyshev and Kucherov.

-How many points would Grigo have gotten on Gally's line? Maybe 3? And Gally on Russia's 1st line? At least 10.

-Galchenyuk was never used in his natural position.

So Sabres fans, keep telling yourself that Grigo is better. Maybe if you dream about it enough, it will come true.:shakehead

You sound insecure. Maybe a little worried.

I don't think his draft position should indicate that Galchenyuk will necessarily stick at center. I'm not saying he won't, but Kessel was drafted fifth overall as a center and that sure didn't last.

Maybe he was on the 3rd line because he didn't deserve to play more minutes???? No of course, Housley had something against Galchenyuk right?

Anyways, one fan said Grigorenko was better than Galchenyuk, which is arguable, don't get your panties in a knot.

He was on that line from the start of the tournament. I know he didnt play at his best, but he still put up the points.

I am really not worried, he will go back to the OHL and prove everyone that doubts him wrong.

No I am annoyed of everyone judging Gally after 1 bad tournament. Not just this thread.

Ya so you come on here and bash another playee to make you feel better? No Sabres fans or hardly anyone is bashing Gally, maybe just your fanbase. Learn to ignore the posters if you dont like what they say. Everyone has had an opinion on Grigorenko since the draft, do you think were not annoyed of Habs fans creating this rivalry between Gally and Grigs.

I am not bashing Grigorenko. I am saying if you are comparing them, put them in each others shoes. Sure you can compare a guy who is playing top line minutes to someone playing on the 3rd line. Is it really fair?

And if someone would be insulting your top prospect, you would try to defend them too.

Who is doubting him? Isn't the consensus around here that he will be a surefire top 6 forward? I haven't seen a single person say the guy will bust or anything. Grigorenko on the other hand...

-Grigorenko played slightly better than Galchenyuk yet Gally had more points. Imagine if Gally would have played well.
There are so many things wrong with this I don't know where to start. You do realize how Pejorative Slured this sounds. Grigorenko outplayed Galchenyuk but if Galchenyuk would have played better he would have outplayed Grigorenko. First you are assuming that Galchenyuk wasn't at his best which you can never prove, sure he has looked better in the OHL, but this tournament is much better competition, maybe his game won't translate, maybe Galchenyuk doesn't do well under pressure. Second you are assuming that Grigorenko couldn't have played better which is wrong.
-Galchenyuk had 3rd line minutes and played with Barber and Kuraly. Grigo was on the 1st/2nd line with Slepyshev and Kucherov.
Galchenyuk was on the third line because he played like a third line player on the US team. Do you really think he deserved more minutes? He was given similar minutes to Grigorenko against Canada / Russia and didn't do enough with them to encourage Housley to continue playing him more, and rightfully so. Galchenyuk's minutes were a product of his play, plain and simple.
-How many points would Grigo have gotten on Gally's line? Maybe 3? And Gally on Russia's 1st line? At least 10.
Once again I don't understand how you have come to this conclusion.
-Galchenyuk was never used in his natural position.
You act as though Galchenyuk hasn't played any wing before (hint: he has, and quite a bit of it in Sarnia.)
So Sabres fans, keep telling yourself that Grigo is better. Maybe if you dream about it enough, it will come true.:shakehead
Grigo was the better player this tournament plain and simple, if you want to talk about Galchenyuk more, he has his own thread.

That being said back to the topic of this thread Grigorenko. He showed real flashes of dominance, even beyond that periods of dominance, if this kid puts it all together he is going to put up a ton of points in the NHL, the skill is definitely there. However, I still see some of the concerns that were raised on draft day, his play can be uninspired and lethargic at times, he will disappear for stretches. When this happens he seemed to turn the puck over quite often. He also didn't seem to put up as many points as his play would suggest he should have, at the end off the day the puck ending up in the back of the net is what matters, in such a short tournament it would be reasonable to suggest that his line didn't have good puck luck.

I hope like it doesn't sound like I am being too critical of Grigorenko, the positives have been mentioned enough in this thread that I have mostly ignored them. I guess I just always have tempered expectations for any prospect. People called him the steal of the draft at 12 the day of the day and it is still holding true imo.

And if someone would be insulting your top prospect, you would try to defend them too.

We have had that from 29 fanbases up until this tournament. Gally gets nothing but praise (rightfully so)

Anyways I wish that there was something else to discuss because this has grown tiresome.

Agreed end it here. Grigorenko shouldnt have this many haters, its undeserved.

Nope, you're absolutely on point, he definitely needs to play with more consistency and the skill is definitely there.

I know he plays wing, I watch every Sarnia game. I am just saying not main position and terrible linemates.

If I keep arguing Im going to dig myself a grave so lets get back to Grigorenko.

I can't them in each other's shoes, I'm not a fortune teller.

Insulting? They are sharing their opinion that Grigorenko is better. They aren't calling your guy a bust or insulting his manhood. Relax.

Keep telling yourself that.

Yawn. Do you contribute anything except posts that are useless and full of jealousy/hate? I know you wish the Rags drafted Grigs with a middle first round pick, so you don't gotta be mad bra. Oh yeah what team are you a professional scout for again? Since you talk like your opinion is the end all be all to Grigorenko

HA...HA...one more...HA

:help::shakehead

Please let that post be sarcasm.

Nah. Just as many question marks with Yakupov, Galchenyuk etc then there are with Grigorenko. And no, I wouldn't trade him for anyone else from the draft, the Sabres need a center and Grigs is the best one from the draft IMO. Gotta love Hf, if you have a differing opinion all the "expert" armchair scouts ridicule you if the prospect you like isn't from there team, pretty sad and reeks of jealousy. It's one thing to like your teams prospects , it's an other if you come in a rival teams top prospects thread and post something with zero value. I Can say what I want about Grigorenko, I'm not some snarky rude antagonizer going into other prospects threads who aren't on my team and saying "LEWLS THEY SUCK U SRS BRO?"
