Has completely taken over the game today in every way and I preferred him over Jost at the draft and still do. Devils have a great one in Mikey

He's 4th in playoff scoring now. Reminds me of the playoffs Zacha had, though Zacha didn't have a 5 point game.

Also in a three way tie for most goals with 6.

Really love how he's been playing in the second half of the season. 34 points in his last 18 games is nothing to scoff at.

Saw his two games in Ottawa and quite simple a man among boys out there. Skating is off the charts , showed some soft hands, smart plays (IQ) and was physical, especially in that first game .

I'll admit, wouldn't touch him in the 1st round before the draft, but he's progressed A LOT.

This dude has progressed so much this year. I wouldnt call it too much of a stretch to say that he could be something along the lines of a Ryan Kesler type of player(??? Not sure how the comparison is, but they are both good defensively and very fast)

are we at the point where we can say his post-WJC performance is more reflective of his progress than his pre-tournament performance? Mississauga had a rough time going at the beginning of the year and (understandably) people thought he wasn't doing enough. looks like it wasn't as much his fault as people thought

I'll quote this post I made on the Devils board:

I looked into McLeod's pace over his draft year. I know people were super excited for him prior to Alex Nylander departing for the WJC. I can see why. In the first 33 games of the season (game 34 for McLeod being when Nylander was gone), McLeod had 42 points, 1.27 PPG. He then went scoreless in three games.

Then he missed two weeks because of what I assume was an injury. He wasn't the same afterwards, putting up 14 points in 14 games before getting injured again. He underwent arthroscopic surgery for a meniscus tear, for which he missed roughly a month. After coming back he put up 14 points in 14 regular season and playoff games for a full season total of 70 in 64, or 1.09 PPG. You could make a case that injury and a lack of team depth without Alex Nylander contributed to McLeod's drop in production.

Fast forward to this year, McLeod put up 27 points in 26 games to start off before attending the WJC. In his first 2 games back from that event he had 2 points.

Then the Steelheads acquired forwards Jacob Cascgannette and Trent Fox at the trade deadline. In the 35 regular season and playoff games since, McLeod has put up 55 points, 1.57 PPG.

The other day, Todd Cordell sent out this tweet:

It looks like there's certainly evidence to support it.

I'll quote this post I made on the Devils board:
They acquired him prior to the deadline, but the biggest help for McLeod has been Spencer Watson. While acquired early in the season, he wasn't healthy until early December, so McLeod only played 2 games with him prior to going to WJC camp. Similar to A. Nylander, Watson really helps them in the cycle game as he is a smart player with a good shot which allows them to slow down the game a bit.

Makes sense. We'll have to find someone like that for him to play with in Jersey.
