I'm more excited for the fact we don't have to rush prospects with the 2017 #1 who seem more NHL ready than MM.

This. As a huge Michael McLeod fan, by all means, I want the Devs to bring in Patrick (or Hischier) full-time before they do so with McLeod.

This is excellent for Mikey. He can focus on WJC gold and possibly Olympic action against the KHL's best, rounding out his offensive game, and learning from a brief NHL stint and preseason. Patrick gets all the attention this year coming in, McLeod steps in full time come 2018 and wins the Calder. Would be the perfect storyline.

Don't be putting thoughts in my head :amazed:. I'm definitely in the minority but I believe Zacha would have benefited from another year overseas. The trickle down effect of the #1 is greater than we all expect. I have no issues with taking NP and having him take the weight of franchise on his shoulder, especially with that pedigree.

There's been talk about what McLeod would do against a "good" team, since he should be penalized for doing well in the games he has played in.

Against the top-seeded Petes:

7 pts, 22 shots (!) in 3 games.

I think this should put to rest talk about not being able to play well vs. good teams
2 pts in 5 games against the Otters. 7 shots.

What happened?

You knew he wasn't playing well when there wasn't 5 Devils fans bumping the thread a day (which I won't lie as a Devils fan was pretty annoying).

Ejected very early into Game 4 for a slash. Overall, we're happy with McLeod's season. Represented his country at the WJC, and got to the OHL Finals. Also, pretty mightily out produced Logan Brown, who would've been the consensus forward pick, had we not traded down just a spot. We also picked up another decent prospect in Joey Anderson by doing so.

He played a good team finally!!!one11!!one

It's going to suck if the same thing happens at the NHL level. Imagine carrying your team to the finals and having a poor series.. ****ing brutal. Should have just tanked for a higher OHL pick all along IMO.

I believe the extra pick was Gignac, not Anderson. Joey was our own 3rd rounder. Gignac also had a pretty good season and was a good add for passing up on Brown. Hard to tell who will be better between McLeod and Brown but got to like NJ's chances right now to win that trade.

Either way, it was a great pickup. I like both prospects, Gignac I actually like a little more, but RW is a greater need.

I can't wait to see what a ****show Nolan/Nico threads will look like post-draft. The McLeod/Zacha/Konecny/Provorov threads were just the beginning of what's to come, I sense.

i'm going to go ahead and guess that most Flyers fans will say they liked the one we didn't pick anyways and that prospect is way better than whoever we picked.

just going to have to wait until the pick is made to see who their favorite is

100 points in 77 games overall. very happy with his season.

the Flyer fan with the "what happened?" post did amuse me, I have to admit.

Ejected a few minutes into the first period of game 4 due to injuring an Eerie player with a slash. Hopefully he learns from that.

In the four actual games he played McLeod had two goals (no assists). Not great, but not too shabby. Against the Petes he had 8 points in 4 games I believe so he still came out over 1PPG against the OHL's best.

Looks close to being NHL ready, but not quite there yet. His shot has improved a bit but I'd like to see one more year of seasoning with top-end minutes and another big WJC experience, after a short stint with the Devils in Sept/Oct.

From an outside POV, these Devils threads (Zacha and now McLeod) do seem plagued with doubters/haters

It'll be even more fun with who ever the Devils pick first in this draft. There's already a build in "the other guy is better" component.

I see McLoed as a top flight 3rd line center. Not enough skill to be a top sixer.
If a 40-50 point center is now a 2nd line center, then McLeod has plenty of skill to become that and maybe more. Drafting Patrick may take away some PP time he would normally be given but he is pretty elite off the rush.

What are the chances he makes the big club next year?
I think another year in the OHL will do him good
